Since the wi-fi disconnects, I'd try wired and see if that helps. (If you have a laptop without Ethernet, you can get a USB to Ethernet adapter.)

Few things I would try. (1) Turn off VPN from other devices. As in my case, just one device can be VPN at a time. (2) Try with USB tethering to see if it works. This is to see if the issue is on the computer or the modem. (3) If USB tethering works,

Hello there. I did fix the issue. I am getting speeds of around 200 mbps regardless of the test used. To make a long story short. Decided to upgrade the router I was using, this included adding dedicated nics instead of using usb ethernet adapters.

There is discrepancy when testing speeds. Using xfinity test or Oakla I get 30-35 maps consistently. Using Mlab I get 190-200 mbs which is supossibly what I am paying for. Verizon gives me the same as Mlab, and if use fast.com I get 80-90 mbps. A 10 to 15 percent is perhaps expected but 6 times lowe

Yes you can still use home hotspot if device has 5ghz 802.11ac Wifi Most older devices only 2.4ghz wifi so they can't see or connect to hotspot anymore. Would have to buy 5ghz USB adapter for computer/laptop.

Need suggestions for mesh system
Just got 400 mbs and an XB6 gateway.Speeds drop off from 350-400 near the modem to 10-15 mbs at end of house. Need suggestions to at least get to 200 mbs. Network adapter on desktop says wi fi speed up to 54.5 mbs.Would that be my limit and I would have to hardwire ethernet?

Issues with USB WiFi adapter?
I recently had Xfinity service installed for the first time. The Ethernet cable connection between the modem and my desktop PC doesn't work. To get around this, I am currently using a USB WiFi adapter, and the adapter plugged into my USB port on my PC talks to the WiFi in the modem a few feet away.

@user_eydjhi If you don't have a port then you would likely need a dongle. That is a device that would plug into your device and have an adapter on the other end for a USB drive. I hope this helps.

Personally, i would consider getting a Usb wifi high speed adapter, they are under $15, it would give you access to the 5 g band, much faster speeds, it should connect easily to the new gateway

@user_296b78B Turned out it's an older printer and does not support the security std of the router. If your printer is also old, there is a good chance you will be able to use it only via USB cable.

Sound cuts out every so many minutes gets annoying. Only happens with watching TV does not happen when using the Blueray or watching movines from a usb stick.
