IR extender for cable box Xg2v2-p

can i plug an IR extender into cable box Xg2v2-p using the USB port? are these free?

I love this: "An IR Extender or IR Receiver is included with your TV Adapter equipment. Not all of our equipment comes with an IR Receiver."

didnt come with ours

anyone ever try this?

the old equipment had like a microphone connector for the IR, this box doesnt have anything specific

I have yes. What does that matter?

I still like to be able to use the channel up and down

Look, does an IR extender plug into the USB or what?

once RF paired (press the A button on the remote) to the X1 remote it is connected by radio not IR to the set top box, so you can put the set top box behind the TV etc where IR port is not visible to the remote. Ir 'blaster' devices will not connect to X1 equipment.

Bad info. When you "pair" to make rf work, ir is still usable. I have confirmed this by using my universal remote to control it with ir after pairing. So, Rf with the xfinity remote works, and ir from my universal remote both work, the end. The challenge is finding the place for your ir bug to go and adjusting the intensity. Welcome to ir/rf voodoo land, good luck!

Additionally, the ir target on this specific model is located in the most ridiculous location since the invention of ir. Flip the unit over and look at the bottom front edge. You will see a tiny plastic rectangle along the curved edge. Have fun attaching your ir bug here... Lots of goop or electrical tape etc., or an ir blaster may hit it. Keep trying to make ir go away bluetooth nerd engineers, the 14 million people with universal remotes will keep finding it!!

adding..  you might try putting something small under the front of the xg2 (like an empty DVD case) to tilt it up a bit to make it easier for IR to work.
