Suddenly unable to connect to VPN

I am suddenly unable to connect to my work VPN on my home network (using FortiClient) after having no problems for years. My employer help desk worked with me to troubleshoot - we checked my settings, restarted my computer and network, and tried connecting via hotspot. On the hotspot, the VPN client will connect.

I reached out to Xfinity to troubleshoot, but the only solution given was to disable advanced security on the gateway. However, I do not have an Xfinity gateway. I have my own equipment - an Arris Surfboard and Google mesh system.

Today I am also noticing that my connection seems very laggy. A speed test shows 128 up/33 down over wifi, but pages are loading very slowly and videos are unwatchable. I have quit any extraneous applications and restarted my computer, to no effect.

I have issue now and my company has given me two laptops(running Windows 11 pro)and both drop my VPN in maybe 3 minutes or may take 10 min. Even if I just use plain old wi-fi(no VPN connection) it disconnects  and then re-connects. Non-stop all day.  I need xfinity to stop blocking my  FortiClient VPN. I should not have to use my phone as hotspot(it doesn't drop if using AT&T as that will cost me when I already pay over $300/month to xfinity. That will change if not fixed on your side.

Since the wi-fi disconnects, I'd try wired and see if that helps.  (If you have a laptop without Ethernet, you can get a USB to Ethernet adapter.)

Why should I have to go buy something for it to work. Why can not comcast fix the issue. I actually am not the only one with this VPN issue it seems but I'm the one to go out and buy equipment?

Hey there @nfrey, thanks for reaching out through Xfinity Forums regarding your VPN issues. I know how important it is have your work connection up and running! Are you using an Xfinity modem? Do you have a separate router or any Wi-Fi extenders connected?
