Hi - I'm an internet only customer so just get the basic Xfinity channels via Stream.  Any chance the olympics will be in 4k using the app?  Haven't been able to find any info on that yet.  Thanks

Ugh, Olympics in 4k is only going to be Live again! Boo, live 4k Prime Time events will be what ever you guys choose for us. If you're not home watching it live, you don't get 4k events. No rebroadcast, no dvr'ing, no access to hours of 4k on-demand events like you guys gave us before... Oh, and the Opening Ceremony will be on in 3:30AM Pacific Time - sorry West coast, we are out of luck.

@tzr916

Thank you for posting your question here in the Xfinity Forum. With X1, you’ll get live coverage of the Olympic Winter Games in 4K UHD. Coverage is available in Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos immersive sound.

  • This includes 4K channels in the X1 Guide:
  • Channel 1387 (Xfinity 4K 1): For 38 NBC local affiliates airing the Primetime nightly
    • If you turn on a standard definition (SD) or high definition (HD) live channel, you’ll be auto-tuned to 4K channel 1387 (you must have both SD and HD channels for auto-tune from SD to work).
  • Channel 1388 (Xfinity 4K 2): For next day re-airing of the Primetime show (this channel won’t auto-tune to the 4K channel).
  • Coverage includes:
    • Opening and Closing Ceremonies
    • Primetime Shows in 38 local channels
    • Primetime Show replays

To find the Games in 4K UHD, you can:

  • Say “Olympics” into your Xfinity Voice Remote to go to the Olympics Destination on X1. From there, go to the “Watch live now in 4K” row and choose a tile.
  • Say “4K” into your Voice Remote to go to the 4K Destination.
  • Press the xfinity button on your remote, then press the down arrow to see Olympics options to watch.

Can I record live events in 4K?
No, live events in 4K can’t be recorded.

Xfinity On Demand: 4K UHD/HDR content (free, rentals and purchases) is available if you have an XG1v4 or Xi6 TV Box set to 2160 resolution with a compatible 4K UHD/HDR TV and a 4K-capable HDMI cord. Please see more about using the X1 guide to adjust your video display to 2160p.

Comcast is passing along all the Olympics 4K content that is available directly to our customers.

For additional information about Olympics 4K content, please see here: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/uhd-4k-faqs

I am having issues with the audio on the 4K feed. I am hearing the NBC announcers and there is another person doing voiceover that is describing the action on the screen movement by movement. It is very annoying. And very confusing, done in a monotone as if were being done for a blind person.

I’m having this problem too. I can’t find a way to display the list view from the DVR. I accessed it through the app, but the recordings scheduled with that were formatted incorrectly for playback on the TV—vertically squashed. Having to cancel recordings and reschedule from the TV individually. Very frustrating.

it sure would be nice if someone from Xfinity would answer these questions.🙄

Hi, @user_dd490a. Thank you for posting your question in the Xfinity Forum. You should be able to simply say "Olympics schedule" into your voice remote or select the "Olympics schedule" tile from the Olympics hub to be directed to the Winter Olympics X1 guide and overview. I would really like to know why 4k has become some sacred holy untouchable entity that is only available Live? Given comcast owns NBC who has the exclusive rights on the olympics, I just don't understand exactly who is requiring xfinity to restrict it to Live only, and why? And It's not like Xfinity doesn't have the technology to enable 4k On Demand, or they are trying to monetize 4k content. It's more like they are trying to bury it, make it hard to find and hard to watch. It's really disappointing, especially after enjoying the very first 4k olympics fully On Demand for several weeks, even after the games had ended.

Please accept my most sincere apology for the experience that you have encountered. Live content airing in 4K would not be able to get recorded. We appreciate you taking the time to provide us with your feedback and hope to improve upon these features in the future. You will still be able to record the High Definition feed for viewing at a later time. We also recommend using our Peacock streaming service in order to access a vast amount of Olympic content that will be available. Please know that we pass along the 4K content to our customers that is provided to us.

This does not answer the question this person asked. They (like I) want to know how to remove your advertising square found on the the far right position of the "Last Watched" list. Your solution above only works to remove items we've recently watched not the super stupid and annoying add placed by Xfiniti. Currently it is for the Olympics, other times it is other programming that Xfiniti is advertising. This particular add square never moves from the far right position so we are not even able to add new channels to cycle it out like we can with channels we've selected. This forced add view is completely garbage especially as it takes up the first and default position in the Last Watched list.

@user-680296, I'm sorry we did not resolve this exact concern. This is tough one to answer because I don't have an advertisement in my recently watched list. Are you able to let us know if this is more relevant or if this info helps? (https://comca.st/3JwPyKz.)

Its been noted several times on these threads that the 4K channel broadcasts for sporting events in particular seem to be processed incorrectly by the X1 box.  I have a fairly new Samsung 4K TV with HDR, etc.  Winter Olympics just started and make Comcast experience even more frustrating.

I typically keep the settings to allow box to switch to best possible signal.  So if I went to NBC standard definition, it would automatically switch over to NBC HD.  Great picture, great quality.

Except the WInter Olympics, like other sports events, automatically jump you to Xfinity's new fancy 4K broadcast.  That would be great except for the fact that 4K is horrible through the X1 box.  See other posts for smarter people than me explaining why - washed out images, zero contrast, guide text also looking washed out.  Some have suggested you have to adjust your TV picture quality to compensate which seems like a bad solution.  Others have said a X1 box tweak on those channels works, need to try that one.

Solution for me has been to turn off the automatic switch to the better quality feed (since the switch to 4k Olympics is a horrible picture) which is problematic for older family members who may not remember that just pressing 4 for New York WNBC doesn't get you the best picture.  Seeing someone watch TV on a big screen in SD makes me crazy...

More importantly, its amazing that Comcast spends a fortune on Olympic coverage, shoots for a new 4k experience, and then on a high end TV provides a horrible customer experience.

Say “device settings” into your Xfinity remote. Goto “Video Settings” and change from 2160p60 to 2160p30. Fixed the dimming issue for me.

It is absolutely unacceptable if 4k Olympics can’t be recorded to watch later anymore. We know you can do it. It was stunning this summer.

What’s crazy is seeing this in 4k is a huge draw and Comcast is once again making it difficult to enjoy a service that we pay for.

Hello, @jbroadkill

This is certainly odd that you're unable to see the channels that you subscribe to and we want to assist you with this. To get started, please use the chat icon in the upper right to enter Direct Messaging. From there, go ahead and compose a new message to "Xfinity Support" and send us a message with your name and address.

To send a direct message [private message]:

  • Click "Sign In" if necessary
  • Click the "Direct Message" icon

or https://comca.st/3GvDUxz

  • Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
  • The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there.
  • - As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list.
  • - An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line.
  • Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
  • Press Enter to send it

I still intentionally use Legacy Cable boxes. If I search for Olympic programming in OnDemand, I can see that it is there, but it's not organized - just lists brief titles. In the actual OnDemand menu, there is no section for 2022 Olympics. I found one for 2020 Tokyo Olympics (SD and HD, and both are now empty), so that looks like a big oops. Someone needs to add the section for THIS 2022 Olympics and add the programming that is already loaded.

I did start using the Peacock app, but it still isn't as well-organized into smaller segments. It's all or nothing, and also the forward and reverse controls are still lousy, so I wanted to see if the presentation was better through OnDemand.

Again - LEGACY box, so no talking into a remote or X1 interface.

Would like to enjoy all of this 4K Olympic coverage, but I'm having a terrible time getting a good looking 4K picture.  When I switch to 4K the guide is barely legible, colors are off and everything is extremely dark.

I found an older thread that suggested I switch off of the "Best Available" display resolution, but that hasn't made a difference.  Has anyone had any luck with anything else?

For anyone that has a Samsung TV does this help?

On your Samsung TV Go to Settings > General > External Device Manager > HDMI UDH Color > then turn on for the input you are using for Xfinity.

Let me know if this does anything...

This is extremely disappointing.   I won't watch the Olympics live.  I need to watch slightly delayed by DVR so I can speed up the boring parts that are 80% of what's on screen with sports.  Waiting for judging, pauses between events, you name it.   DVR is the only way.     You won't even give me 4K Olympics on my Flex, and even if I bought X1 (will you sell it for just 2 weeks?) I would have to watch live?

It's 2022, and sports are an ideal thing to have in 4K.

Xfinity is so behind the times.  In China they are getting it in 8K, it is said.

I'm sorry to hear you're having issues with the 4K Olympics broadcast, but you have definitely come to the right place for assistance.

Have you noticed any similar issues with other 4K content on your equipment, like Netflix, Prime Video, YouTube, etc., or is it just happening with these live broadcasts? Were you able to perform any troubleshooting steps that, even temporarily, corrected the issue, or has it been completely uncorrectable up to this point?

When I attempt to watch 4K programming of the Olympics i get a error message that my system is incompatible for watching 4K. My tv is 4K and HDR which is turned on. I am using the xfinity X4 HD box. This past week watched the playoff on Fox in 4K no problem. It seams that the Olympics is being shown thru a special channel. Is this the problem? Need help.

The model of the tv is LG 65UF8600 at the moment it is connected to a Dennon AVRX3300 with top of the line cables. I have tried with the XR4 to the  Dennon and with the XR4 directly to Tv. Hi @Rosedale1, one of the best ways to get access to all the great content the 2022 Winter Olympics has to offer is through our X1 Platform service. In a majority of cases, there is usually no cost difference from our legacy hardware to our X1 Platform equipment. If you would like to communicate about upgrade paths, please let us know.

Alternatively, you can access all the events through our Peacock application or Xfinity Stream application which is available on a variety of devices and Smart TVs. You can find at our Xfinity Customers Get Peacock Premium and information about our Xfinity Stream application by visiting our Xfinity Stream App Minimum System Requirements support page.

When using a non-X1 Platform set-top box, are you able to access the OnDemand menu and search for "Winter Olympics" within the search bar to find results? Please let us know at your next available convenience.
