I figured it out.  I was making the change within the Guide app but I needed to make the change in Settings.  You guys may want to address that inconsistency.

@XfinityMarcos​ this is happening on an original Xfinity equipment, and I have tried every option to make the channel change including the walk-through. The gateway responds to change channel request but the channel snaps back to 1 within the next 30
