Did I Get A Scam/Spam Xfinity Sales Call?
This afternoon (08/12/22) I received a pre-recorded voicemail supposedly from Comcast Xifinity. The number that called me was [Edited: "Personal Information"] in Rochester, NY.
The full message was:
”Hi there I'm calling you from Comcast Xfinity to let you know that your existing account is qualified for 50% off in order to avail the discount kindly call us back at [Edited: "Personal Information"] from 8 AM to 5 PM Pacific standard time thank you and have a great day.”
Is this message ligitimate? If not, who do I report it to? And how do I report it?
Thank you!

Hi,
We received this 50% scam call today.
The scary thing, they had information on our current bill and due date as well as expiration dates of our current promotion. Of course I did not verify any of this information, I just let the guy with Indian/Pakistani accent babble on.
However, this leads me to believe that Comcast customer data has been compromised.

Incoming voicemail from Fla phone number 1-[Edited: "Personal Information"] claiming half off Xfinity/Comcast billing. Never got to hear entire proposal I disconnected the call.

I received a call today regarding a promotion to cut my bill in half for the next three years if I paid $900 upfront for 10 months of service by using target gift cards. The caller was very convincing, and I told them I would do it but needed to see a written version of the promotion by email. I gave them 4 different email accounts and they said they sent the document to all those accounts. When I told them I still hadn’t received it, they said my internet must not be working?! They then told me that if I didn’t make the payment using an authorization code they gave me along with the gift cards by 9pm the promotion would no longer be valid and I wouldn’t receive the $150 visa gift card. They also said that I should lie to the cashier if I was asked if this was part of a promotion. This is when I decided the whole thing was very fishy. Has anyone else been approached this way? I’m concerned because I may have revealed details when they asked for certain verifications before I actually became suspicious.

Deceiving practice for promo with target. I didn’t know I have to buy a gift card from target then call back with the number to qualify. I was Never told this was how it works before signing up. This is how scammers work. I told them to cancel as it was only 15 mins told I couldn’t that deceiving. I then check my bill they charge my account 300 cancellations fee for 15 mins call told them to cancel. I’m on fix budget can not afford this I need it fixed. how can I get this charge taking off.

I just got the same call/message a few minutes ago, and I get them often. I would it was from a 202 area code telling me to call an 844 number.

Just got a call from [Edited: "Personal Information"] saying a 50 percent discount on my account available today and to call a 855 area code number. I may be old but not stupid. You may want to alert your customers that this is a scam.

I was contacted with an offer for half price service for 36 months with addition of 4 free premium channels. The scammer only had my phone number from the call. He was able to tell me my name and address and monthly payment and knew I did not have the premium channels. He told me the offer was being sponsored by Target and that I would need to purchase Target gift cards to use to make a 6 month payment in advance. He also made an entry to my Xfinity account while we talked to create a zero balance. I then called Xfinity to ask if the offer was legitimate but was told it was a scam.
I don’t like that someone can so easily access my Xfinity account simply using my phone number which they already had as they initiated the contact in the first place. And they could tell me my monthly payment and make an entry in my account so easily. Was this an inside job by nefarious Xfinity employees?

I got a text today saying this is last day for 50 percent off. I believe it’s spam, so I haven’t called. Is this legit ?

I just got this voicemail:
“Hi there this call is to remind you that 50% discount off or on your Comcast Xfinity account expires today in order to avail the discount please call back at [Edited: "Personal Information"] from 8 AM to 5 PM Pacific standard time.”
I don’t believe I have such a discount. Is it spam?

This happened to me just now and thankfully i was skeptical and decided to tell them i'll call back tomorrow. The crazy thing to me is that the even knew my address and account details already. I just decided to check if it was a scam after i got off the phone with them and sure enough it is.

Being taken advantage of by scammer that contacts you from number that shows up Xfinity. They have account information that you didn't give them. Sure didn't seem like a scam but after being ripped off for hundreds of dollars, you're told it's a scam. Hard earned money just gone. Nothing can be done about your money but please post about it and contact FTC. Xfinity knew before the customers and should have sent text, emails and snail mail flyers to warm their customers! That's what any decent company or person would do. I am fine with warning others of scams and other things that could be harmful. Especially if we have any type of connection, family, friend, business because that is the proper thing to do, to ensure we live in a decent place. Why wouldn't you at least warn the people you depend on, of the low life scum that is crawling up out of the stinking sewer from hell, with only one purpose which is to steal their hard earned money. Warn your customers, the people you accept money from for your over priced services to sustain your company. I am curious, will Xfinity be held accountable for not sharing the information. I would hope they are not gaining financially from this scam. They already charge enough for their services.

Person called my cell phone and left message that my xfinity service plan was ending and was offering special promotion (xfinity actually does this so though nothing of it). Call came from [Edited: "Personal Information"]. I called the number back a few days later. After lengthily process supposedly verifying my account (no account numbers or personal info beyond my name and street address where discussed) through me identifying a previous payment I made. Once provided, "Albert" shot into promotion xfinity was offering in conjunction with Target. Offered cash back, new iPhone, and reduction of bill to $40 a month (half of current) if I paid xfinity bill up front for two years ($960). Catch was that for promotion, I had to get two Target gift cards in amount of $480 each, call [Edited: "Personal Information"] and provide the gift card numbers along with an activation code before 5PM Pacific. I was suspicious and called Target to validate promotion and confirmed it was a scam. Problem is that the original number [Edited: "Personal Information"] connects you to what sounds like an xfinity switchboard complete with cheesy music and ads while you were on hold. It also does not help that xfinity basically operates in same way when offering promotions (sans the paying alternate means). I did not call the second number, [Edited: "Personal Information"]. "Albert" gave his contact info as to call [Edited: "Personal Information"]. Just wanted to get this info out there.

Keep getting calls that appear personal (shows an individual's name that can be found by Google and not blocked by carrier) but spoofed. Same/similar message - just a reminder that the Comcast 50% off offer is expiring today and to call [Edited: "Personal Information"], which is never the number the call came from. Of course, I know it's a scam.
