Putting Cartoon Network Behind Another Paywall?

I am so mad that Cartoon Network is going to be put behind yet another paywall. Why? It certainly (as it was put it in the notification), "to make sure we deliver the best mix of content and value for our customers". How is putting a channel/network that has been part of the normal line up suddenly behind another paywall that we'd have to again purchase separately doing anything to add a 'mix of content' and it certainly isn't improving value of the channel line up. It's weak. I'm extremely disappointed with this decision. It's made me reconsider my current package to purchase a lesser value, possibly even explore other tv options. I hope these complaints get some serious consideration.

Thank you.

"another paywall"? what was the first paywall it was put behind?

I'm trying to understand "multiple paywalls".

They moved Cartoon Network to a more expensive package a few years ago and this is the 2nd time they’ve done it. Xfinity is a terrible negotiator with Time-Warner and makes their customers pay for it.

What about Cartoon Network seems appropriate for a sports entertainment package?

Well @user_iroi40 , there are two parts to the more sports & entertainment package. The entertainment portion of this package now includes Cartoon Network, Crime and Investigation Network, Turner Classic Movies (TCM), and Outdoor channel. With that being said, I think it is important to voice your feedback like you have already done with the Send Tom Feedback Form. Thank you for sharing your feedback here within our community as well, this is a great place to find others that share the same opinion. We want to make sure that our customers feel heard, and submitting feedback is where that starts. 👍

Please add my disappointment:

Subject: Concern Regarding Removal of Cartoon Network from Xfinity Lineup

Dear Xfinity Customer Service,

I’m writing to express my disappointment regarding the recent announcement that Cartoon Network will be removed from the Xfinity TV lineup. This channel has been a staple in my household for years, offering both nostalgic value and quality programming for younger viewers.

Cartoon Network is more than just entertainment—it’s a cultural touchstone that has consistently delivered creative, diverse, and family-friendly content. Removing it feels like a step backward in providing a well-rounded viewing experience.

I understand that programming decisions are complex, but I urge you to reconsider this change or provide alternative ways to access Cartoon Network through your services. As a loyal customer, I hope my feedback will be taken seriously.

Thank you for your time and attention.

Sincerely,

[Edit: Personal Information]

LOOOONGTIME Customer with multiple Xfinity products and services.

@XfinityJeniece I truly hope Xfinity is listening to its customers on this matter. It may seem minor, but for many families, this change will be difficult.

Mr-DJ We appreciate you reaching out to us over our Community Forums, and providing your feedback. The Cartoon Network is still available, it has been moved from the Ultimate TV and Digital Preferred Tier packages to the More Sports & Entertainment package. For a limited time, eligible customers can add the More Sports & Entertainment Package for just $5 a month for the first two months.

We offer a range of alternative content that may offer similar viewing options. You can also use your Xfinity Voice Remote to find alternative viewing options. HBO Max offers popular Cartoon Network content:

HBO Max stripped almost all of its Cartoon Network content.

Agreed. It's something my family enjoys—whether it's cartoons for my son or Adult Swim for the adults in the house. It's ridiculous.

Please add my disappointment to this thread and feedback to Comcast. I will be downgrading my package because of this. If actions like this continue, I surely will cancel altogether.

Add one more. I don’t understand what cartoons and sports have to do with each other so this seems to be nothing more than a money grab when Xfinity is already charging ridiculous amounts. Might be time to rethink cable all together

This change and horrendous quality/customer service may lead a 20+ year customer to leave.   [Edited: Language]

This is the final straw for this 20+ year customer.  I have TV, Internet and voice service with them and am going to be canceling all of them over this change.

Xfinity has really shown its greed and has done nothing to set itself apart from other cable providers. A majority of the channels they offer show 24/7 reruns on repeat yet they want to charge premium for below basic programming. I’ll be canceling.

What content on Cartoon Network makes you think it needed an additional charge? Your making people who have children pay more for reruns of cartoons?  The audacity of this is appalling and I am also considering changing to a cheaper package now as 90% of your service is not worth entertaining anyways the channels available keep shrinking and carrying charges., you force people to upgrade bundles to services they don't need (i haven't needed a landline phone in years but that didn't stop you from remaking bundles with it to charge extra) and the prices just go up and up with no end. It really is complete garbage.  My thanks for 25 of years of patronage just to throw it in my face and pick my pockets. ~slow clap~

I agree! It's just pure greed! Xfinity is too expensive as it is and they pluck Cartoon Network to put it behind a paywall to "inprove value"?!? How does placing a popular channel in a higher tier any value to me? I'm looking into other providers because this is ridiculous!

Yeah I just found out tonight when, like every night I turned on Cartoon Network and it wasn’t there. I’m DONE with Xfinity. I’ve been needing an extra reason to cancel being that my bill like all of ours goes up every year with no additional benefit. Expect a call from me tomorrow Xfinity. We are all done.

I pay $267.72 a month for cable and internet.  In the last 2 years the price has gone up significantly while basic channels are disappearing or going to a pay for package.  Comcast/Xfinity is offering less and charging more.  Edited: [inflammatory & misinformation]

Your decision to put Cartoon network into a "sports" package is going to backfire.  Instead of you getting an extra 9.95 from me, you have just motivated me to move all of my services from you to providers who will actually appreciate my business.  To summarize, that is over $300 monthly that I currently pay (TV/Internet/Phone) you will be losing (and a 20+ year customer) because you wanted to try and get another 10 bucks from me per month.

Thanks,

No, HBO Max doesn’t carry “a lot” of Cartoon Network content unless you think 10% is “a lot”.

@XfinityAmandaB Can you please explain to me how charging another $10 per month for a channel that used to be included in my already over-priced plan is providing me the 'best value'.  I have yet to have anyone from Xfinity explain that part to me.

I JUST found out about this when I went to watch Cartoon Network. I am outraged! I as well pay over $200 a month for cable and WiFi. To make matters worse I have Xfinity mobile as well which I will soon be cancelling. They are too big too care, flat out. Oh and please, whichever Xfinity employee that is about to read this, do respond with your script.

Whoever wrote that script needs fired.  I love the part about providing 'best value', not sure how us paying $10 more a month is providing any value at all.

One thing to know is that Fios TV by Verizon does offer Cartoon Network, we have been with Xfinity for a long time, but per the CN change, we'll be dropping Xfinity altogether. Please join me in doing so, and [EDITED: Language]Xfinity.
