INSP removal???

Why on Earth would xfinity remove INSP network from basic cable and add it to a much more expensive cable package knowing full well it’s mostly the aging among us who enjoyed watching Westerns and such the most? No way am I’m paying more money for shows that are 50 plus years old and that have already made their millions. What a shameful move xfinity. The time is approaching where I need to make xfinity…. EX-finity

Hello @Wildflower3583! We regularly review our channel lineups and sometimes make changes to ensure we're offering a wide variety of content at the best value. As part of those regular reviews, we made the decision to move INSP Network to the Popular TV/Extra package and Entertainment genre pack.

The good news is that you can still watch programming like that found on INSP without changing your TV package. By saying “Westerns” into your Xfinity Voice Remote or searching for “Westerns” On Demand, you can find a wide variety of content at your fingertips.

We offer a broad range of alternative content, such as Pluto, Xumo Play, MeTV and Tubi with our service packages as well.

Um, not all our western shows are list. Smh 😡  so that's a no-go too! Who moves western channels to sports and entertainment! Could have had both...duh!

Ridiculous response. "You" review...how about what the customer watches regularly,  not what "you" think. Do you honestly believe westerns, 60 yrs old, belongs on a higher paid sports package?!! Your westerns don't include Laramie,  High Chaparral,  Cheyenne,  Tails of Wells Fargo. So no, we still don't get our favorite shows!!!

@CCJennifer on demand was also removed. Removing insp is just another stupid decision by Xfinity/Comcast.  One of the few channels of shows with morals you now force us to pay for.  Prices continue to rise while shows with morals continue to disappear.  Very disappointed with Xfinity.

So sorry that you feel that way @user_1fdff3.  While this decision is not one we take lightly, this is a decision made in part by us as well as the network.  While the network is still a part of our line-up, it is part of a higher tier of service.

If you happen live near a metro area. Getting an amplified antenna would be a good investment. I get over 50 over the air channels. where I live. They have no more commercials than found on cable television.

If you mean my last reply, it reads right.

If you are referring to yesterday's first reply. It is absolutely possible. It is happening now on social media posts.

Just lost INSP & who knows what other channels. One of my favorite channels, watched the most in our house. I don’t need sports package. Comcast is just ridiculous. I don’t wanna call a foreign country again to complain because all they want is to sell more. So sick of Comcast / xfinity

Last I checked, INSP is not sports related! It's  westerns! My package included this channel, xfinity, take it away, my bill should go down!

@sayuri it was on my TV 24/7 unless I wanted to watch a hallmark movie.

And they move it to a sports channel packagel! Last I checked, INSP was westerns and not sports related. Stupid comcast, and the prices are ridiculously high for no reason with all these  additional  fees.

I agree with all that is being said about the dropping of INSP. My term was up and now the price went up and I lose a channel that we watch all day long. They can remove stations but the price stays the same.

They should reverse their decision and bring back INSP!!!!!!!!!!🤠🤠🤠

Amen to all of you...Just got off the phone with Comcast customer service (ha-ha), after being hung up on 3X, explaining our package contract included INSP.  Our contract does not expire until March, 2024.  The only resolution they would offer was for us to subscribe to the new sports package for an additional $9.99 per month.  WHAT! So it's okay for them to violate their contract and for we, the customers, too bad.  They would not offer any financial adjustment to our bill for not receiving all the channels per their contract but, I could spend even more money to get what was agreed in the contract!

Looking for other alternatives!

@user_09d060 FrndlyTV is $6.99 a month with 40 plus channels, no sports, no news, I'm cutting my cable tv on 9/27

13 Messages

@user_09d060 I said the same thing to them. They told me that our contract states that they are allowed to make changes just as we are allowed to make changes. SMH

Yet another channel (INSP) has been moved to a higher tier package with no reduction in monthly service fee for the package it was formerly in. It's becoming very difficult to justify having Comcast as my cable provider when they continually remove channels from the lineup with no reduction in monthly service fees (I was "invited" to pay $9.95 more per month to get back the channel that was previously part of my lineup!).

As other's have pointed out:  moving INSP, a primarily western program channel to a sports line up? Clearly profit was the sole motivation. To suggest any other reason is to be disingenuous. I guess it's time to abandon Comcast after decades of being a customer in favor of streaming and OTA programming. <sigh>

Totally agree. I have been a customer for 30+ years and pretty much because during storms and power outages, broadband cable is more reliable than a satellite. Now I am thinking about leaving and getting a satellite service that has INSP and during storms, watch Roku or a firestick or Apple box my son gave me. He pays for all the streaming services so I'd just use his account for Amazon and Netflix.

Removing INSP channel to sports package?!?!?

I wasn’t notified.  And no I’m not going to sign up for a sports package.  I’m a retired senior citizen and already pay a lot now!

The Comcast explanation of why they dropped INSP is a bold faced lie. They know aging baby boomers enjoy watching shows that they loved when they were young. Some snot nosed MBA in management figured he could squeeze another $10.00 a month out of the seniors. I wonder how they sleep at night.

It is simple. They keep moving channels with older content, because the older generaTion has the hardest time cutting the cord. A good chunk of the content is so old it can be streamed free if you can figure it out..,

These greedy jerks take ISNP off basic cable. Cleary only effecting seniors. How low can you  go?

How is Xfinity able to remove a channel while you have a contract.

@user_f0839b My INSP wasn't on Basic, I had the higher plan at $99. 00 a month, and they cut it.  I'm [EDIT: Inflammatory]

I think it's more insidious than that. They simply monitor what channels people are watching and when they see a low tier plan channel that is highly viewed, they move it to increase revenue.  I think the "Sports" package was one of the convenient targets as it was the smallest step up ($9.95/month) cost wise and (hopefully in their eyes), customers would upgrade to retain what they had.

Not many other logical reasons to move an old western programs channel to higher tier plans that already include the basic package channels. How is it "mak(ing) changes to ensure we're offering a wide variety of content at the best value"?  Removing INSP from the Basic Cable package did absolutely nothing but just that. Take it away from Basic Cable package subscribers.

The justification is complete nonsense as it offers less variety to existing customers, and *reduces* the value of customer packages while adding nothing to the higher tiers that already included the channel!

@user_6c30f9 I'm already paying $190 a month for internet/cable tv with 125 plus channels. . . .most of my tv watching is 70 percent OTA, but I'm cutting my cable tv in two weeks so I can watch INSP on ROKU tv or get FrndlyTv for $6.95 and get INSP and 40 plus channels.

13 Messages

I too am paying 190$ a month and I watch only like 5 favorites, Hallmark channels, INSP, HGTV, GAF, and now GRIT (which has westerns). I am under contract so cannot cancel without paying a fee. I tried to see if INSP was on ROKU but I don't think so. I do know its on FrndlyTv though. I just don't like to stream or watch on tv on a laptop.

@user_6c30f9 I think when INSP started to get viewers and started to show new shows is when they may have decided this too. It's ridiculous and greedy.

My dad was so confused and saddened to see his favorite station was no longer available. I helped him find another solution however I’m disgusted that Xfinity/Comcast is choosing to capitalize off the nostalgia of baby boomers in such a greedy & rather manipulative manner. Shame on you for doing this to your customers, even worse specifically targeting senior citizens (many of which are on fixed incomes.) I’m currently looking into setting up a better service for my parents, as Comcast clearly doesn’t appreciate their “valued customers.” Instead of giving customers what they paid for they plot the most profitable tactics to squeeze more cash out of their pockets. Fantastic customer service… 🙄 smh.

Also, adding INSP (westerns) to the sports package?! Really? What a joke.

13 Messages

I too was very saddened. As an avid western show watcher, I had my tv on INSP 24/7 once I discovered they were playing the show Laramie. The only channel that does, except for Starz. An therefore it's not even available on On Demand or their suggested advice to look for westerns free to me. This channel was my 'constant' and practically put me through withdrawls on Sat when it got removed (I came home to a notice "you're not subscribed"). I am livid. I asked INSP on FB if it was their idea and they said no, and to call and ask Xfinity to give it back. So I did and Xfinity said...NOPE.

Thank you for reaching out to us on our community forums @user_66369e! We regret to hear this affected your parents. Every month, Comcast pays programmers like networks, local TV station owners and others for the ability to bring their programming to you. The cost of programming generally continues to rise – in fact, our programming costs have more than doubled since 2006 – which can affect your bill.

We absorb a large portion of these cost increases and are doing our best to manage them while still giving you the best value we can. While this change won’t cause the prices to go down on existing packages, it will help limit future increases in your bill.

Could you please send our team a direct message with your full name and your parents' full address? Our team would love to help look at available promotions to see if we have any options to add the More Sports & Entertainment Package without increasing the monthly bill. I just found out I no longer have INSP, one of my favorite channels, all Westerns. . . How is a western tv show related in any way to sports. . .  now comcast wants to know why people are cutting cable. . . . I'm cutting my cable tv on 9/27 as soon as I get rid of my 24 year old tv that I can't stream stuff, and move to streaming on my ROKU, and getting a good antenna to get OTA channels. . . thanks Comcast for nothing. . . you robbers.

@user_295390 Thank you for sharing the trouble with the services ordered. Sporting channels are a part of most channel lineup packages. However, there are some add on packages that may be the issue you are seeing. I would love to help out to make sure this is corrected so that you have the right channels.
