TVAPP-00148

I just encountered error code TVAPP-00148 on the Xfinity Stream app on my Samsung TV. Worked fine for prior 6 months. App streams fine on other devices and tvs. Tried turning off/on tv and deleting/installing app on Samsung tv.

Xfinity you are making me lose my mind.  We have been having internet issues and we have the latest equipment.  Now I can't watch NFL Playoffs [Edited: "Inflammatory"]  How is this good customer service?  How are we as customers supposed to be satisfied?  To top it off you're charging an arm and a leg.  What are you doing for those of us stuck in this situation?

error:tvapp-00148

it refuses to play any show. Roll back whatever update your techs did. Give us free cable boxes for our inconvenience or a bill credit for every day its unusable. Because why am i paying for a service i cant use. If this isnt fixed by superbowl sunday i will be calling in and asking for retroactive bill credits.

I am on day number 16 with no live tv. I no longer have the use of recording any live tv off on demand. I am paying for a service that keeps getting taken away from me day by day. I also lost my WiFi and had to keep rebooting to get even that service. I have been patient. Now you all have taken even more a way as when I try playing:recording anything on On Demand, I am getting the error code TVAPP-00148. The same error code that started all of this 16 days ago. I need a resolution soon as it's not fair that I can't even get everything I am paying for

After getting off the phone with xfinity for the issue we have all been going thru, I now have a new error code which is Tvapp-00815. My On Demand being taken away is linked to the TVAPP-00148 as I am being told. This just started and hour and 15 minutes ago. My WiFi went out and I canned as my on demand was not working either. I was told that this is on Samsung again. I am trying to let my fellow Samsung people know that this issue is getting bigger by the day with Xfinity taking no responsibility in their end. I am without WiFi-except on my T-mobile phone(can't get WiFi on my laptop), no live tv and no On Demand. This is beyond ridiculous. Hoping to help whoever else is going thru this. I am paying for a service that I have none of. I can't even get a credit for not being able to access anything.

We have the xfinity app on a Samsung smart TV. We are not able to access live TV and are receiving an error message - TVAPP- 00148. I have tried resetting the TV, deleting and redownloading the app, but that didn’t work.

I am starting a new thread as my posts are blocked/closed with the new error codes happening to us Samsung users. At 2:55pm(Chicago time), I finally lost all ability to lose On Demand after not having live tv for 16 days. Two new error codes have popped up and I'm trying to keep you all informed. During the call, I got the new codes of 00815 and 00481(I though I was dyslexic for a moment) were both acknowledged by the cs rep who said this is all on Samsung. I just bought this tv last March and it was the latest and most updated version Samsung had out-not the 2021 model Xfinity is claiming to be one of the issues-and it's under warranty. I have called everyone I possibly can trying to get this issue resolved. The only finger being pointed is towards Xfinity and their "engineers". I am more upset about the fact that I'm being told to fix the issue myself-get a new tv, call Samsung AGAIN, go buy a fire stick- then Xfinity actually fixing this issue. We are in the year 2024 where technology is not a new thing. It's been around for many years. The issue is that it's been 16 days and all we can be told is "You'll receive a credit once this is resolved". What that means is that we hope you forget and we do not need to reimburse anyone for anything. I am not giving up and neither should any of you. Xfinity is a huge company with deep pockets who only care about their bottom line and not the people paying for a product that his not being provided to us.

Super Bowl in 9 days…. Usually a decent amount of people watch it.  clock is ticking for BOTH massive companies to fix this for their mutual paying customers. [Edited: "Language"] it’s taking this long.

Call the number to Samsung that is now listed on the error code. They helped us resolve the issue. You'll need a flash drive, and they'll assist you to download the update, and guide you step by step to install it on your TV. We asked why they weren't doing an across the board update for everyone, and the representative told us Samsung would be, but it'll probably take a month. Hope this helps :)

Error started Wednesday, January 17th, 2024, and still no resolution.
Worked the previous day, Tuesday, January 16th, 2024. with issues.
Samsung TV (purchased in 2022) was up to date on updates, so definitely points to an Xfinity Stream issue, especially when error does not happen on 4 out of 5 Samsung/LG TV's.
This TV is the second most used TV within my household.
Every time I call,, they say they are aware of the issue and they are working on it and it will be repaired within 24 hours - seems a very long 24 hours (over two weeks, so far!).
Oh, and they are trying to buy me with a $13.00 credit - not going to happen.

And the nerve, to recommend that we use other devices to make their APP work on the TV receiving TVAP-00148 owing to their software!

We contacted Samsung at the number noted on the error code screen, and they were able to assist us in resolving the issue. You'll need a flash drive to plug into your TV to install the update. We asked Samsung why they weren't just doing an update across the board to resolve the streaming issue for everyone, and the representative told us they will be doing an update, but it probably won't take place for a month or so.

10 Messages

What update are you talking about and where did you get it?

7 Messages

Samsung has an update. You need a flashdrive to download it from their website, and then you'll have to plug the flash drive into your TV to manually install. The Samsung representative we spoke with gave us step-by-step instructions to download the update onto the flashdrive, as well as instructions to manually install it into our tv. The entire process took about 10-15 minutes. I don't have the number we called since our TV is now working and we no longer see the error code, but the 800 number to contact Samsung was noted with the error code when we were checking our tv the other day to see if it was working. The error code had come up as it had been, but there was now additional information listed with the error code, including the 800 number I've mentioned.

Thank you so much! This worked for me. I have the model QN65QN90AAFXZA and the USB update from Samsung fixed my xfinity app problems. :)

Spent an hour with Samsung support this morning, and they don’t have a usb downloadable fix for my models of TVs. So we are still out of luck with live tv, unless we want to spend even more money on a Roku. Almost three weeks now…… :/

@user_ooieyf from the marked "Official Solution" on this thread (page 1)"

  1. You can update your TV’s firmware manually. (You’ll need the model number of your TV and a USB flash drive.)
    1. Go to https://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads/
    2. In the Search your product search bar, enter TV’s model number
    3. Under Firmware, you should see and click on How to update USB firmware (this will open a new webpage with this header: Update the software on your Samsung smart TV or Monitor)
    4. Then choose and follow the Update using USB instructions

It’s been more than 2 weeks with no resolution.   Using Apple Airplay to watch live tv.    Called Samsung and they were of no use.  Kept reading from their script.    Asked for a new tv and dead silence.   Had no timeline when it would be fixed.   Called Xfinity multiple times still get the runaround.   They both point their fingers at each other.   Anyone have an update?   Have tried all the suggestions in this forum.

@user_2hbh6s I think there may be some confusion, this is not an Xfinity issue, see this thread's marked Official Solution". I think you need to take up your concerns with Samsung.

We've seen this error for two weeks now. We are at the beginning of February and these two corporations are FAILING customer support - classically passing the buck.

Is there any way to escalate this and if not start shaming both of them for not fixing the problem? I think we, the end users, have the numbers to start a campaign on this issue. We need emails and messages to management of Samsung and Xfinity. Anyone have contact info, please post here, and we start writing on all platforms about the shameful customer service.

Hey @valhossu,

Thank you for visiting our official Xfinity Community Forums support page. Please accept my most sincere apology for the experience you have encountered with the Xfinity Stream application on Samsung SmartTVs. We would like to let you know that this is not an Xfinity issue, but an issue with the firmware in the Samsung SmartTV. Samsung is working to deploy a fix within the next 10 days hopefully that should automatically fix the issue.

We do have a few known workarounds that you can use to try and enjoy your Xfinity content on your television. One possible workaround is manually updating the television by visiting the Samsung support page. You will need the know the model of the television as well as a USB drive for the television's firmware. You can find instructions and more by visiting samsung.com/us/support/downloads.

Alternatively, you can play Xfinity content using a mobile device, and then, on your home WiFi network, use Bluetooth to cast the programming to your Samsung SmartTV.

We apologize that the Xfinity Stream app is not working as seamlessly as we would like, but a fix should be coming out soon to help resolve these issues.

Hello, @user_3eau8r. Thanks for posting on our community forums. Are you experiencing the same error message with your Xfinity Stream App on your Samsung TV? If so, there is a workaround that has worked for most of our users. You can download the latest firmware through the Samsung website. You will need the know the model of the television as well as a USB drive for the television's firmware. See the instructions and more by visiting Samsung Support. I hope this helps!

I am also having this same exact issue.  I worked with Samsung for a couple of weeks...but ultimately they could not fix it and sent me to Xfinity.  They have no timeline for when it will be repaired.  They offered me a $55 credit for the month which tells me they will not have this fixed anytime soon.  I have been recording shows that I want to see and watching them later but I am reading that some of you don't have that feature either.  I hope this is resolved quickly but I am not holding my breath.   Very frustrating!!

I was able to fix myself by following some of the comments above. You can fix without calling Samsung. Follow the link https://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads/ then enter your tv model. Download the firmware update noted on the page that comes up (download to a thumb drive). Insert the thumb drive into your tv and update. There is also instructions on Samsung on how to download and update via USB (that link is also located directly below the firmware update for your tv model https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00062224/). After I updated the firmware it fixed my Xfinity issue.

@user_fjxa0u Mine previously noted an update of 2201 and every time I tried to manually update via the settings screen, it would note, no new updates available. It wasn't until I went to the Samsung site and found the Version 2501.1_2210.0. It might not hurt to try and download the one noted on the Samsung site just to make sure. Just a thought.

Unfortunately, this doesn’t work for us. We plug in our model number but the firmware update isn’t an option. Maybe they haven’t worked out an update for our model yet. We talked with Samsung, and they were worthless. We are beyond frustrated!

Have an OLEDLG smart tv.  When go to xfinity stream able to get all channels first time, but if I go to a different channel and back to the previous one get the error message tvapp-00148.  Have done all recommended fixes with no results.

I downloaded the firmware from the Samsung site.  It REVERTED the firmware to a previous version.  Funny how Samsung is being more responsive than Xfinity in resolving this situation by reverting their firmware rather than Xfinity who have NOT correct their coding problem in their software QUICKLY
