Can't pair remote volume and power to my fire tv

I just bought a new Amazon Fire TV and I cannot get the XR15 remote to pair the volume or power. There is no Amazon Fire TV listed in the options for TV to pair to. The person on the Helpline did not understand what I was talking about at all and said that Amazon is not a brand of fire TV lol. Please help!

Hi, @chris2kel. I would be happy to look into your remote pairing issue. I think what the agent meant is what is the manufacturer of the TV. Examples are, Toshiba, Insignia, Hisense, but I assume you are talking about the straight Amazon fire Tv series. May I have your Tv model?

@XfinityEthan Hello and thanks for responding! I gave her every bit of info I could find on the TV. Here is the link to the item on Amazon. I don't know what else I can give you. There is no additional info in the book either... I did tell her it was an Omni Series but that didn't seem to be what she was looking for.

@chris2kel

The Tv is so new it won't be listed. It is model B08P3QVFMK and built by Foxconn, but Foxconn is not in the pairing list. You can try these options.

  1. Turn on your TV.
  2. Press and hold Setup until the light at the top of the remote changes from red to green.
  3. Enter 9-9-1. The light should flash green twice.
  4. Keep pressing CH ^ until the TV turns off.
  5. Once the TV turns off, press Setup to lock in the code.
  6. Press the TV power button on the remote. If the TV turns on, you're all set!

I believe this way will ask for manufacturer, but check it out.

Open the Xfinity My Account app on your Apple or Android mobile device, and then:

  1. Tap the TV icon, pick your TV Box, and then pick Setup a remote.
  2. Swipe to find the remote control model you need to program, and tap Continue.
  3. Pick TV or Audio/Other, and follow the programming instructions.

The second option did not work because as you said it asked for it the model which is not listed. The first option I have an XR 15 remote so I do not have a set up button. I did try holding the info and Xfinity buttons but that brings me to the typical way of pairing the remote that doesn’t work.

@chirs2kel, thank you very much for trying the steps. We want to see this resolved ASAP! When you go through the typical way of pairing the remote, if you keep pressing this code does not work, does it allow you type in your own code or does it default to the TV manufacturer list like the app does? If that is the case we may need to go to private chat so we can access your account.

@chris2kel We bought the Amazon 55 inch set this week.  The code that finally worked was 12292 which is a TCL code.

I've contacted our 3rd party vendor who provides us with the IR programming codes to add this model to their database.

@XfinityChad2 Oh that’s great! Thanks so much! Would you contact me when it’s done? I am doing this for my father who is technologically impaired, so I know he’s going to appreciate being able to use the remote for power and volume.

No problem!  We are so glad to help in any way that we can.  Now that the request was submitted, you would need to reach out to the manufacturer of the device for further confirmation of the new codes.

I am having the same problem! Please notify us if they respond with a code and it gets entered into the system. Either way I am going to keep trying but this is frustrating - nice new tv but have to use two remotes, boo!

Thanks.

still waiting to hear back but I found these codes below online for Omni TVs.  You can try to manually program the remote using the codes below.

5 digit codes:

11570 16763 17165

let me know if this helps

Hi, same problem here. Omni Fire TV with XR 15 remote. What are the instructions for manual entry of codes?

I found those same Omni TV codes, just can't find clear instructions on how to manually enter. Trying to this up for parents and my dad would find it annoying to use the Amazon remote to control volume.

Hi @user_5c8436. Thank you for reaching out to us through our Xfinity Forums! Oh no! I'm truly sorry to hear there is an issue paring your Toshiba Fire TV and the XR15 remote! Not to worry! We're here to help!

Can you please follow these steps and let us now if this works?:

  1. Turn on your TV.
  2. Press and hold the xfinity and Mute buttons together for five seconds until the light at the top changes from red to green.
  3. Type the five-digit code for the TV manufacturer (Code:11524).
    • If the remote light blinks green twice, the code is correct.
    • If the remote light blinks red then green, the code is incorrect.
  4. Aim the remote at the TV, and press the Power button.
    • If the TV turns off, turn the TV back on and make sure the Volume and Mute buttons work.
    • If the TV doesn't turn off, try the next code.

While I don't have any updates, it looks like we did get some additional responses. Have you been able to try any of those yet?

I ran into the same problem with a 43" Series 4 FireTV.  It appears that this model was made by TCL. I was able to get the Xfinity XR15 controller to pair to volume and power using code 12434. Amazon makes it pretty difficult to figure out who actually made the TV. Good luck

@user_26ab5f Thank you.  the 12434 code worked to pair our Xfinity remote with our FireTV 50" 4K.  Very helpful info.

The 12433 code worked with my amazon 43" Omni tv when changing the channel and audio.  The 991 code worked only for changing the channel, not audio.

Thank you. I was having problem pairing my parents 65" 4K Omni Fire TV with XR 15 remote. I saw the mention of the codes 12433 & 12434, the second worked and now we are able to power on/off & volume up/down after 2 months of waiting on xfinity to provide.

Thanks again, 12434 worked!

I cannot get my X1 remote paired to my Pioneer fire tv.  Can you help.  Really I don’t have a place to input a cable box.

Hi, cannon6213. I appreciate you taking the time to reach out to us here through our Forum for support. Are you hoping to be able to have our remote only control the volume/power on your Pioneer TV just for now?
