Hey @33357leebels, thank you for reaching out to Xfinity Support on our forums. The XB8 has been released nation wide but due to the popularity has been in short supply. If you can send us a direct message, I can check on availability as well as follow up with you when available.

To send a direct message:

Click "Sign In" if necessary

• Click the "Direct messaging" icon near the top right of the page

• Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon

• Type "Xfinity Support" in the "To:" line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list which appears. The "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line

• Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window

• Press Enter to send it

Hi @user_2813b0,

In order to be eligible, you would need to be subscribed to our Xfinity UltraFast Internet or above. Even with meeting these requirements, there is no guarantee that you will receive the XB8 due to limited inventory.

I would also like to request the XB8, but the steps you describe above to send a P2P message does not work for me.  I am logged in, but there is no Peer To Peer Chat option.  Please advise how I can proceed with this request.

I understand that the new XB8 supports Matter. Does it support the Thread networking protocol as well, or just Matter over Wi-Fi?

Hi, @user_db7b0e! Thanks for visiting our forums page for help with wanting to know if our new XB8 modem will support thread networking protocol. Great question. From what I understand, thread is a low-power mesh networking technology protocol designed to connect all the devices in your home so, yes. It will support it. How does this sound?

Hello @user_d10679 and thank you for your submission. I know we are all very excited about our new XB8. We are happy that there has been an overwhelming desire for these new modems. Due to inventory limitations we can not guarantee a specific gateway upon installation or request. Chances are you will end up with and XB7 which is still a wonderful modem. That being said if you desire to still see about getting a modem we are here for you. Please feel free to send us a message with your full name and complete address. Has anyone actually received the XB8 gateway?  I have ordered it twice via Comcast and they keep sending me another XB7 version gateway that I have to return.

@lrcasey I have been experiencing the same issue. I've received two XB7's and have had many conversations with agents "promising" that they are sending an XB8. I currently have an order placed to try this again. The agent told me that she placed a note on the order specifically stating to pack the XB8 in the "Getting Started Kit" (the kit that seems to be the default "thing" to order).

We'll see if it works out this time!

Anyone else actually receive an XB8 yet? Any issues with it? I am REALLY hoping that the XB7 bridge mode issues have been fixed in the XB8 :)

Hello! We really appreciate your patience with this. Currently, the Xb8 modems are on backorder until May. We are working very hard to keep up with demand for these modems, and you should be seeing them dispatched shortly.

I no longer work for Comcast.

@user_48eee9 I wouldn't bother trying to get one until July.  Xfinity should not have released this product until they had adequate quantity to supply.  The customer service people will just put you into the 7 to show they are signing up people for services since they too have no clue when 8 will be in stock.

@lrcasey Hey Casey! The first time I ordered the XB8, I ended up getting another XB7 and was like [Edited: "Language"]. I requested another XB8 mid May and I was surprised about 3 days ago when I opened the box it had an XB8 in it. However, I have yet to plug it in and try it out cause it sounds like there's too many [Edited: "Language"] issues with it. For now my XB7 is hooked up. I'll probably give my XB8 a shot in a couple of days. Hopefully they'll begin to address all of the bugs.

Good luck requesting one. I have ordered the XB8 three times and keep getting the XB7 which I already have. It's very frustrating and apparently the warehouse will automatically ship out an XB7 if there are no XB8's without bothering to look up what the customer already has. So I have had to make 3 trips back to UPS to return them. I may have to switch back to Verizon.

@user_dfbfa7 Hey. I must of gotten lucky, but on my second try over the phone I ended up getting an XB8. I placed my second order around May 16-17th and got the XB8 on May 24th.
