Xfinity charging for INSP

I just received an email from INSP that Xfinity is going to charge $10 for INSP even though INSP doesn’t charge Xfinity for their programming. I don’t want that to happen. Why would Xfinity do that?

All,

Thank you for your feedback, we appreciate you posting it here in our Xfinity Forum. We regularly review our channel lineups and sometimes make changes to ensure we're offering a wide variety of content at the best value. As part of those regular reviews, we made the decision to move INSP to the More Sports & Entertainment Package. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. We offer a broad range of alternative content, such as Pluto, Xumo Play, MeTV, and Tubi with our service packages. You can also say “Westerns” into your Xfinity Voice Remote to find a collection of all the Western content still available for you to watch.

[Edited: "Inflammatory"]   I've been with Comcast for 30 years,  and this is the most disturbing action you have done!  I'm ready to hand over my diamond status!!

This really stinks- [Edited: "Inflammatory"], no wonder most Gen Xers stream their service.  Charging for a black & white re-run channel, how low can they go?

I totally agree. We pay way too much already. I am NOT paying $10 more per month. I love INSP and watch it almost every day. I used to love Comcast Xfinity but not so much now. I will be looking for alternatives. Shame on you Xfinity.

Good evening @user_cb3ca4, and thank you for reaching out on our Community Forums regarding your channel concerns. Our team will be happy to help. Is the INSP channel the only channel you are receiving the subscription error on or is it for additional channels as well?

No I have the highest package so where is insp

@XfinityAlyssaA He's not the only one.  Looks like Comcast decided to group this channel in with a bunch of others that the core demographic for INSP would never watch to try and pad top line revenue.

Why on Earth would xfinity remove INSP network from basic cable and add it to a much more expensive cable package knowing full well it’s mostly the aging among us who enjoyed watching Westerns and such the most? No way am I’m paying more money for shows that are 50 plus years old and that have already made their millions. What a shameful move xfinity. The time is approaching where I need to make xfinity…. EX-finity

This [Edited: Language]! I watch INSP every night and I will not pay for it.  I will watch my programs on another channel.  [Edited: "Inflammatory"]

It's like when they moved TCM Turner Classic Movies to the "Sport and Entertainment Package" which costs $10/month. So over the past few years we've basically had to pay $10 extra just for TCM as the rest of the "Sports" channels in that package we don't watch.

@Wildflower3583 I agree with you completely. My 83 year old mother watches INSP. They removed this channel before and I had to upgrade my mom. Now they’re moving it again to a sports package which is [Edited: "Language"]. [Edited: "Inflammatory"].

Xfinity knows this channel is popular, so why not charge more for it. [Edited: "Inflammatory"]. Totally ridiculous

I absolutely HATE Xfinity for removing this channel. I'm not old. In fact, I only discovered this channel earlier this year. I didn't even like westerns until I played Red Dead Redemption 2 (the video game). However, it provided good programming that was clean (a refreshing change). I pay for a high level package. However, over the last few years, Xfinity has removed many of our go-to channels.

Moves like this is why so many people are cutting the cords and getting rid of cable or satellite. In fact, after 15 years of Xfinity, we are very close to making this decision. Our bills have skyrocketed only to find Xfinity execs moving channels that we already subscribed to and placing them on "add-on" packages.

The funny excuse from Xfinity? They've reviewed this and came up with this decision to better serve customers. They didn't compensate us with another channel. Rather, they simply removed it.

It's being slowly removed from Xfinity in different cities and states. Today, it was removed from Xfinity lineups in most cities.

@billmich88888 Here's the news release from Xfinity:

https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/insp-moved-package

From that page:

Why did you move INSP?
We regularly review our channel lineups and sometimes make changes to ensure we're offering a wide variety of content at the best value. As part of those regular reviews, we made the decision to move INSP to the More Sports & Entertainment Package.

How did you inform customers of this change?
We let our customers know with a message in their monthly bill statements.

Are you adding any channels to replace INSP?
No. We’re not getting rid of INSP, we’re just including it in a different Xfinity TV package.

Comcast has [Edited: "Language"]. Removing INSP is the last straw. They have constantly and slowly creeped up prices and now remove a channel that was in my rotation. Doing this while there are so many streaming options available has to be one [Edited: "Language"]. [Edited: "Inflammatory"]. I'll be cancelling my cable and going to streaming due to this change. It's not just this one change, it's their creeping up charges and of late, poor quality cable. At a time of massive inflation, they have no empathy for the everyday, common consumer. How much money do they need? [Edited: "Language"] Shame on you....

Wonder where Xfinity's answer to this question is..[Edited: "Inflammatory"] I challenge Xfinity to qualify any good reason for charging a subscription fee for INSP!  [Edited: "Inflammatory"]

I signed a contract for one year for the channels I had before my year is up you take the channels away and want more money. You have done this to me 3 years in a row. I have got to figure a way out to get away from you and stream my shows. [Edited: "Inflammatory"] you can't even talk to somebody

So I guess that’s how Xfinity gets more money out of people is to make them buy a sports network channels and put a western channel that everyone enjoys on it. [Edited: "Language"].

I just noticed a "subscription required" message when accessing this channel on my cable cards. Screw them if I'll pay $10!. Cancellation time coming this December!

How did you resolve their issue? Did you add it to their lineup for $9.95 a month! My wife and I are retired and already pay $295.00 a month for Comcast services and use to watch INSP every night but we can't afford to keep adding pay channels to our bill each month. From what I have heard Comcast doesn't pay to have INSP in their lineup so shy should your customers have to pay for it when we are already paying a ridiculously high monthly fee for your services.  Help me resolve the issue of not wanting to pay extra for a channel I was already getting in my monthly bill.

I agree bmwsteve!  My husband and I are paying that much as well and there's no way I'm going to pay more.  Might just have to look into another option for TV streaming.

It would be better if your computer decides not to charge for INSP. They don’t charge your computer for their programming. Why is it charging your customers?

12 Messages

@XfinityJodie  most of the Western’s on demand are not good which explains the 1-2 star ratings.  Plus demand does not have the same shows carried by INSP.

1 Message

Insp does not charge xfinity and your going to be rotten enough to charge that much for it. Xfinity you should be ashamed. If I could get another company you wouldn't have my business at all.

I agree they are greedy and the service [Edited: "Language"] this is the last straws. Between dropping insp and the service I have had it .

Today INSP 295 disappeared from my TV with adapter.

My grandfathered plan includes INSP.

Both SD 295 and HD 1431 are still on my X1.

Yes, hard to believe a channel that doesn't cost anything is being moved to a sports package. We just added a subscription to Friendly TV which carries INSP and about a dozen other nostalgia channels, it's forty channels for less than nine bucks, many are dupes of channels on Comcast, but it will get my wife used to using our FireStick so we can finally cut off Comcast and get cheaper internet and streaming through our wireless provider. Comcast doesn't have the customer relations capacity to deliver value, people are quitting and they must get more money from less people so this will keep happening.

My wife and I are retired and use to watch INSP for Gunsmoke and other western shows but today it was discovered that it is now part of a Pay Extra Sports and Entertainment Plan, which seems unfair. Sometimes when they take a channel off or make it a pay channel they replace it with something else, but not this time. Again I have to pay the same each month but have less channels to choose from! Not Fair Comcast!

@user_8e5a78 not the point. Two TVs. Removed from one. Still on the other.

@bmwsteve again not my point

@user_1c7b63 [Edited: "Language"], nobody understands. I still have INSP on one TV. Only removed from adapter TV.

Really! I just found out the package you moved INSP is not available in my area. [Edited: "Inflammatory"] Xfinity removing INSP. 90% of the 185 channels you charge me [Edited: "Language"]. I only watch 10 channels and pay a fortune based on your silly packages. It’s time to disconnect and split up my monthly $300 I pay you people with other providers. [Edited: "Inflammatory"].

Comcast added it to a Pay Sports and Entertainment package for $9.95 a month! And from what I hear Comcast doesn't even pay to have INSP on their lineup so it costs them nothing but they are going to charge us for it!

This is a poor choice Xfinity. I’m a Senior citizen and so enjoy this channel. This just pushes me closer to the decision to go with DISH. I pay enough as it is for your service. Not happy 🤬

Dish is worse....they take away channels but you are still charged for them
