CW programming agreement expired
Last night we had the CW channel 11 in the NY/Philadelphia area and this morning it’s showing “Our programming agreement with this station has expired. As a result this content is not available through Xfinity or Comcast business at this time.” What gives? I can’t find anything about it on Comcast website or my bill which usually lets customers know when a channel is no longer available.

The local channels are free if you just get an amplified antenna and watch them over the air. I currently get as many as 55 channels over the air.

Nexstar has pulled WPIX from Comcast due to a contract dispute, right now the case is in federal court and will not be heard until next year. The CW channel, Antenna TV and Court TV have been pulled. Nexstar claims Comcast owes them millions of dollars.

Considering our bill is reaching $300 you’d think they’d take steps to avoid this

Basically Comcast is abiding by the old contract they had with a previous owners. Not sure if it was Scrib’s or Tribune the philosophy is to not pull WPIX would be to acknowledge the legitimacy of that Nexstar contract and control over WPIX. Their whole lawsuit is contending that Nexstar control of the station is illegitimate and a knowledge that contract runs through 15th December or December 31th for other Nexstar and Mission properties would be to acknowledge the legitimacy of the contract over WPIX and go against Comcast’s lawsuit against Nexstar. It is still possible disco. I’ll be settled once the larger Nextstar contract runs out as part of a overall new agreement which could include the dropping of both companies, lawsuits and compensation.

The CEO's of companies like Nexstar and Mission Broadcasting are only looking to get more money out of the subscribers. They have no honor. They have no brains. They abuse the rebroadcasting rights. They hold us hostage. They just want more money to pay their fat salaries. Send emails to the FCC chairperson and complain how the rebroadcasting fee is broken. If your on social media show your disgust against these CEO's and tell them. I believe Comcast is fighting to keep the rates down. If these stupid CEO's used their brains that god gave them, then they would drop the rebroadcast fees so the cable rates go down and people would go back and subscribe since it would be cheaper then streaming. They also forget it is our right to use Comcast and our aerial antenna.

Comcast charges exorbitant fees and always talks about their "loyal customers" - our reward for being "loyal customers" is we end up being the ones that get [Edited: "Language"] (in bad faith) when these disputes pop up. Whether it's "bait and switch" changes like signing up for specific packages only to have channels moved to higher tiers (like TCM) or these disputes that result in channels you are paying for disappearing (like MSG), it's the end user that ends up on the short end of the stick. It's naive to think the money you pay in good faith every month will actually be used to prevent problems like this, but it would be nice, wouldn't it? And at the end of the day, you're not going to get a discount for losing yet more channels. No wonder so many people are cutting the cord.

Cord cutting is not all it’s cracked up to be. Antennas are unreliable with DTV in many areas.
Not every streaming service has all the channels you want to watch or to get everything you want to watch? Do you want to paying as much as you were for cable when you factor in Internet service. YouTube is about the only one that has a deal with Nextar to carry WPIX the and only Fubo and DIRECTV stream have MSG, and only DIRECTV stream carries YES. You still at the pay the cable company for your Internet and they were very likely raise your rates for that once you drop television service. Cord cutting is overrated and you’re still reliant on the cable company for Internet.

I’m probably grasping at straws, but now this dispute is over. I would love for Comcast and Nextstar to make it possible for WPSG and WPHL to return to the Central Jersey Xfinity systems in the New York market. Many of the areas are no closer to New York to New York to Philly. They deserve to have all stations from both markets especially considering FiOS is too stupid to do that.
