My remote app has stopped working on my iPad.  All software updated.  Forum says to uninstall and reinstall, but Xfinity remote app no longer listed in App Store.  Has this been discontinued?  App still on device, but no content.  Favorite channels only tab of four that is populating.  Line up blank.  Search tab blank, etc.

So I see there is the new Xfinity Stream app,  has all the old features of the remote app, but without the remote capabilities.  What a step backwards.  So you need to use the stream app for the lineup guide, then use physical remote to change channel. No I don’t want to watch TV on my iPad.  Hate this!  Bring the remote app back. Mine won’t synch with either of my Samsung TVs.

UPDATE:

The Xfinity TV Remote app was removed from the Apple Store and Google Play. However, if you have the app on your device, you should  still be able to use it as you would normally (though you may need to refresh the app; to do so, simply close the app and then reopen it).

If you removed the app from your device, you may be able to use the Xfinity Web Remote for Xfinity X1, which is available on xfinity.com on any mobile device. The Web Remote has many of the same features that the TV Remote app does. Please note that the Web Remote is not compatible with Xumo Stream Box.

In addition, the Xfinity Voice Remote is available to new and existing Xfinity X1, Xfinity Flex, and Xumo Stream Box customers. You can order one to be shipped to you through Xfinity Assistant (accessory shipping and handling fee will apply). Or you can visit a local Xfinity Store to pick one up in person.

We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for being an Xfinity customer.

EDIT 12/23/24: If you've previously installed the app you can re-install it from your app store I've confirmed this works on my iPad (I do not have an Android device to test personally).

Reinstall apps or turn apps back on (Android)

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open Google Play Store Google Play.
  2. On the right, tap the profile icon.
  3. Tap Manage apps & device and then Manage.
  4. Select the apps you want to install or turn on.
    • If you can't find the app, at the top, tap This device and then Not installed.
  5. Tap Install or Enable.

How to redownload apps on iPhone or iPad

  2. Tap the My Account button or your photo at the top of the screen.

  3. Tap Apps.

  4. If you use Family Sharing, tap My Apps or choose a family member’s name to see content that they purchased.

  5. Tap "Not on this [device]."

  6. Find the app that you want to download, then tap the Redownload buttonthe Redownload button.

Hi @user_3637de user_3637de -

Hi All -

The Xfinity TV Remote App is no longer available. If you still have it on your device, you may see missing content, blank screens, error messages, and/or information about upgrading to X1 service (even if you have X1), depending on which operating system your phone uses and which functions you attempt to use.

The good news is that almost all of the content and functionality in the Xfinity TV Remote App for scheduling DVR Recordings, Viewing Program listings and more has been incorporated into the Xfinity Stream App.

If you are looking for the ability to control your TV via a mobile device, this functionality is available by using our Web Remote.  Just access http://remote.xfinity.com on your phone, tablet, or computer's web browser (such as Chrome, Safari, or Edge).

If you'd like to create a shortcut on your Apple iOS or Android mobile device, I have provided some instructions below, which may vary a bit depending on the device you're using.

Creating a shortcut on an iPhone or iPad

  1. Launch Safari on your ‌iPhone‌ or ‌iPad‌.
  2. Navigate to remote.xfinity.com
  3. Log in with your username and password. If you wish, check the box to "Stay Signed In."
  4. If prompted, choose the TV Box you'd like to control
  5. Tap the Share icon (the square with an arrow pointing out of it) at the bottom of the screen.
  6. Scroll down to the list of actions and tap Add to Home Screen.
  7. Name the Shortcut and tap Add. You should now have an icon that you can tap to access the web remote quickl!

Creating a shortcut on an Android phone using Chrome

  1. Launch Chrome app.
  2. Navigate to remote.xfinity.com
  3. Type your username and password. If you wish, check the box to "Stay Signed In." to make it faster to access next time
  4. Tap Menu icon (3 dots in upper right-hand corner) and tap Add to home screen.
  5. Click Install as an App or Create Shortcut and follow the prompts to Install or Save.
  6. You should now have an icon that you can tap to access your web remote quickly.

I hope this helps!

Same problem. Is Xfinity dropping this application? It is important to me. Another reason to inch closer to YouTube TV...

So with the TV Remote app no longer working I cannot access anything on my cloud DVR. I see the programs saved but I cannot play them or delete them. The Xfinity Stream app does not help because it only lists the most recent 10 or so recordings and I have 40 more on the cloud. How do I access them? They are hidden.

We need the Xfinity tv remote app. It was working great for years and now Xfinity removed it and I am told there is not a replacement. My disabled husband can no longer control our cable box/ tv. Who does that? Horrible.

The Xfinity TV Remote app was working just fine up until today, 2-11-25.  I need this feature to remotely change channels for my 94 year old mother who is cognitively impaired and lives 20 minutes away from me.  I can no longer see the guide in the app to in order to change channels on her television using my phone.  I understand the app has been discontinued at the Apple Store, but everything I am reading says if you have already have the app, it should still work.  I tried closing the app and reopening it but it still does not work.  If I remove the app, I'm not sure if I can reinstall it.  It sure would have been nice if I had been given a heads up about this change.

We had this same discussion when Xfinity abruptly discontinued the app a few months ago -- and then reinstated it after posts appears.  At least this time, they sent an email announcing it would be retired.  I enjoy this app a lot.  The web based remote is OK for changing channels, but you have to look somewhere else to see what's on each channel, and can't limit to your Favorite Channels.  I can't imagine that this is a cost saving issue.  It's got to be a cheap app and so convenient for many reasons.  I've resigned myself that someone somewhere thinks the app is not useful, so they got rid of it.  No survey, no customer input.  Next time they send me a survey, they will get low scores on this item.

They sent an email about 3 weeks ago that the app would end today, I’ll be we are screwed at this point..

I don’t believe I ever got an email that it was going away. I just discovered it about an hour ago. This is very inconvenient. Can’t believe prices keep going up and services down.

Hello user_3kn1gx, that's great you found such an awesome use for the app and are helping your mother. The app is no longer available, and you won't be able to use it going forward. I can imagine the impact for you, however; at this time there is no way to use the Remote app going forward. Have you tried using the Xfinity Web Remote

We found today that the remote app stopped showing the guide. The new app is not functional with a cablecard.  The guide in the remote was great and would really like to see that functionality restored.

Again with this garbage! Xfinity this is a BAD BAD BAD decision. Please restore this or integrate the functionality into the stream app on iOS.

The Xfinity Remote App (iOS) stopped working last night.  "Guide Data Missing" with no prior warning.  Fix IT!!

We use this one daily and need it restored, or worst case it's functionality integrated into another App (perhaps the Xfinity Stream App or The Xfinity App).

@Dstark001 The entire app is non-functional for me now as well and I am a X1 Customer with a regular box.

The Xfinity Web TV Remote app is not the same thing and doesn’t have the function that people are referring to, do you not understand the difference and what was actually lost for your high paying customers?  The two apps are night and day for functionality.

Hello @user_qal6jt  Our apologies as the Xfinity Remote app was retired on Tuesday, February 11th and no longer works. If you still have the app on your devuce it will not work and you will eencounter issues. The Xfinity Remote app has already been removed from app stores and is no longer available for download. We have an alternative to the Xfinity TV Remote app you can use:
Xfinity Web Remote and Xfinity Voice Remote.

was there a security risk?

no more copy and paste that it was retired, tell the people WHY....

So, some MBA employee gets a bonus for convincing management that the TV remote app is old school and no longer necessary because they can’t figure out a way to monetize the app? Meanwhile, here in the real world, us users are left without a solution to what was a simple yet functional app. So Xfinity, now what? Bring back TV Guide magazine?

I like the new Adaptive Remote app, works great for me. However I have an issue with the volume control part of the app. I followed the directions to set up IoT device (BroadLink) and created the "Applet" but after entering the commands on the volume control page I can't get it to work. Is there something wrong with the program?
