Hi everyone -

The Xfinity TV Remote App is no longer available. If you still have it on your device, you may see missing content, blank screens, error messages, and/or information about upgrading to X1 service (even if you have X1), depending on which operating system your phone uses and which functions you attempt to use.

The good news is that almost all of the content and functionality in the Xfinity TV Remote App for scheduling DVR Recordings, Viewing Program listings and more has been incorporated into the Xfinity Stream App.

If you are looking for the ability to control your TV via a mobile device, this functionality is available by using our Web Remote.  Just access http://remote.xfinity.com on your phone, tablet, or computer's web browser (such as Chrome, Safari, or Edge).

If you'd like to create a shortcut on your Apple iOS or Android mobile device, I have provided some instructions below, which may vary a bit depending on the device you're using.

Creating a shortcut on an iPhone or iPad

  1. Launch Safari on your ‌iPhone‌ or ‌iPad‌.
  2. Navigate to remote.xfinity.com
  3. Log in with your username and password. If you wish, check the box to "Stay Signed In."
  4. If prompted, choose the TV Box you'd like to control
  5. Tap the Share icon (the square with an arrow pointing out of it) at the bottom of the screen.
  6. Scroll down to the list of actions and tap Add to Home Screen.
  7. Name the Shortcut and tap Add. You should now have an icon that you can tap to access the web remote quickl!

Creating a shortcut on an Android phone using Chrome

  1. Launch Chrome app.
  2. Navigate to remote.xfinity.com
  3. Type your username and password. If you wish, check the box to "Stay Signed In." to make it faster to access next time
  4. Tap Menu icon (3 dots in upper right-hand corner) and tap Add to home screen.
  5. Click Install as an App or Create Shortcut and follow the prompts to Install or Save.
  6. You should now have an icon that you can tap to access your web remote quickly.

I hope this helps!

@XfinityBecker Is there a way to see the guide and set dvr on the web or in an app?

Let me rephrase that. I used to be able to see the guide in the xfinity TV remote app and select the channel to watch directly from the guide on my phone. How can I do this?

If I try to do this in the xfinity streaming app it wants to stream on my phone.

Garbage fix. Users can no longer see the guide/touch to select programming. All this does is mimic the physical remote.

@XfinityBecker

I don’t know what may have possessed someone at Xfinity that this was a good idea.  I found it very helpful to find a show to watch on my iPad and then to be able to click on it and watch it on my television.  The url provided only gives me a remote no guide.  The streaming app gives me a guide.  I truly hope that this someone will reconsider this decision.
Thanks

Download the Xfinity Stream app. It has most of the same functionality along with streaming tools. The menus are not the same format, but work, although the filter is dumb - no content filters like sports.

Same in Metrowest MA.  Oddly I can use the stream app on my iPhone without any issue. Going to try to cast that to my tv for now.

Same problem in New Jersey and the xfinity TV remote app is missing in the store. What is going on Xfinity?

Also, any Internet help link that they previously had for this app leads to a page that has nothing about the app.

Don’t bother with the live chat agents. They transferred me through 5 different agents with one even ghosting me.   I was on there for about an hour with no success
