Audio Description won't turn off on Fox Network

Yesterday our TV suddenly started Audio Description on FOX only, We have tried all the troubleshooting and even reset box twice, but Audio Narration is still on, but seems to only be on Fox.

Audio Description shows being turned off, but still hearing it. Very annoying.

Is this a known problem?

@XfinityJeniece yes, the issue persists and only on FOX. Also curious,  when a Comcast commercial comes on, all sound goes completely silent.

Hello @user_nwvk6n, that would be super annoying to me as well, so I get why you're looking for some answers on these audio issues. Are you still experiencing issues with that audio description? Also, is this only impacting all channels, FOX networks, or one particular channel?

Same here. Tried everything without luck!

Same. I think Fox or xfinity screwed up and passed through the audio descriptions on the wrong audio channel. It’s not our settings.

Thanks for reaching out through Xfinity Forums, @user_jnmlun. Have you tried reaching out to Fox directly to see if this is an issue on their end with the broadcasting of the network?

Same I'm watching the masked singer on my DVR, and hearing it there. I thought I would try and watch it on demand but the audio description is there as well it seems like it's a fox thing.

Hello @Lncurrie, that would be pretty annoying to deal with while you're trying to watch the masked singer, so hopefully you're not dealing with it over your weekend. I have your back no matter what though, and we'll get this figured out together. Are you still having issues with that audio description? If so, have you gone through any troubleshooting steps? That way we can avoid having to repeat anything as much as possible.

Today is 11/9. Nothing has changed,

While overall Xfinity service is good. Areas like the Fox audio description, eliminating. PC access to your account to just force you to use their App /[Edited: Language]!

Substandard for a $120 billion corporation.

How about someone from corporate read customer feedback? These probably are the loyal customers who take time to share their concerns /issues,

So Xfinity responds by ghosting everyone.

This proves Xfinity it is ad focused only with little regard to their loyal customer base.

Sad!

From a soon to ex customer

@KAS326 Just to clarify, if you tune to the Standard Definition version of this channel does it still have Audio Description enabled?

@XfinityAnthonyT

No it's been stated clearly multiple times.

We all have AD OFF. However when we watch a show on Fox we are hearing descriptive audio if a show supports it.

Regardless of what tv,  phone etc we use

Sounds like a FOX broadcasting problem. If it's been happening for about a week or so it would usually be listed as a known issue & our engineering team would be hard at work making repairs. When you turn Auto Description do you hear it everywhere?

Everyone’s posts are echoes of my frustration.
This is a recent Federal Mandate. The question is …why as our extremely expensive cable provider did Comcast not properly prepare for this?? It’s ridiculous. Makes me want to ditch Comcast altogether and just get Starlink and a VPN and stream everything.

I reached out to FOX to see if they did something and their response is hysterical indicating they have no programs with audio descriptions.

Thank you for contacting FOX Support, my name is Sofia. I understand you are contacting us in regards to how to turn off the Audio description for FOX programs. I would be happy to assist you with your inquiry.

I completely understand how frustrating the audio description can be. However, we do not have audio description option in any of our programs.

If you are talking about the captions, you can turn them off following these steps:

On the web at FOX.com:

  1. Select a video to play.
  2. Select the Player Settings Widget icon on the lower right hand side of the video.
  3. Click on the White Circle to the right of Closed Captioning.
  4. The background behind the white circle will turn blue, indicating that closed captions have been enabled.

I hope this information is helpful, if you have any other question please let us know. Have a nice day!

Thank you,

FOX Support

@user_s2dkl7 I know.  I sent FOX that link in my post, which is why I find their response hysterical where they say none of their shows have audio descriptions.

It's ridiculous that both foc and xfinity are completely useless and can't even acknowledge there's an issue for a subset of users

Hello, @flea1124. Thanks for reaching our team on Forums, we can certainly help and look into this for you. Other than making sure that the audio description is off, were there any other troubleshooting steps you've taken?
