On Demand no longer supported on TiVo (after 6/25/19)

Just recieved a letter from Comcast that at the end of June the OnDemand app will no longer be available to TiVo users.

Yes. If you have an Xfinity TV Box, you can still access your On Demand content, including any SVOD subscriptions. You can also access all of your On Demand content via the Xfinity Stream app and portal, which is available on Apple and Android devices, computers/laptops, Roku devices, Samsung Smart TVs and later this year on LG Smart TVs.

How about allowing access to Airplay on iPads so that I can watch content from the Xfinity Stream app using my AppleTV? If I already own an AppleTV why would I want to get yet another device to watch the service that I pay for.

MrRuffles, great suggestion. However, we are unable to cast or stream content from the app to a larger device due to licensing agreements we have with the networks.

As far as the HBO GO app on TiVO, there have been no announcements on this partnership at this time.

I have a 1 year old LG as well with no solution.  Xfinity Stream will not cast to an Apple TV from my IOS devices either.

JohnGrins, the issue with casting is working as intended. We are not able to provide that feature due to agreements with the networks.

What issue are you seeing with your LG device?

No, no other part of your TiVo experience with Xfinity will be affected. You can still watch and record live TV, and your recordingswon’tt be deleted.

Unfortunately, this does not answer the question.

The question is whether Comcast will now allow access to theHBOGoo App on TiVo. Currently, the TiVo app is not supported by Comcast andHBOGoo cannot be activated using an Xfinity account.

Nothing else is changing in regards to Comcast and TiVO except what has been noted in the original post.  Thanks for your patience.

Does this mean I can no longer watch Comcast HBO through my Tivo?

You will still be able to watch the HBO channel. You will only lose the ability to watch HBO On Demand (and all other On Demand programming) through your TiVo.

First question, is it right that the xstream app on Roku is a free beta with limited functionality and is free to use?

Second question, when the production release version is made available will you commit now to providing this free, forever, to all impacted TiVo users?

Is Comcast working with Tivo to fix this problem?

ssoong, thanks for your question.

We have consulted with TiVo on decommissioning this feature. I encourage you to pursue other options in watching on demand content like via our XFINITY Stream app! We are now streaming on Roku devices and Samsung Smart TVs. LG and Sony TV compatibility is coming later this year.

I am told by both Xfinity & TiVo (in exactly the same words) that I will no longer have access to on-demand after 6/25. No one can give me a reasonable explanation as to why or if there is a solution in the works. All the work arounds will not work for me. I DO NOT want to pay for a movie I can only watch on my 4" phone screen.
Someone give me some good news

No good news. I'm angry and dissapointed by this as well. TIVO users need to collectivly raise thier voices with both companies to express their anti consumer consideration.

Apologies for the experience.

On June 25, Comcast and TiVo will remove the ability for customers to access Xfinity On Demand on TiVo devices.

The platform that connects TiVo and Xfinity devices uses out-of-date technology that can’t be upgraded or updated, making it susceptible to security breaches and therefore both companies decided to sunset the feature.

Why can I no longer access Xfinity On Demand on my TiVo device after June 25th?
We made the decision to remove the Xfinity On Demand app from TiVo devices because the platform utilizes outdated technology that can no longer be updated and is therefore susceptible to security breaches. The decision to remove the feature was made in close consultation with TiVo.

Does this include access to SVOD (Subscription Video On Demand) packages I access through Xfinity On Demand such as: DOGTV and History Vault On Demand?
Yes. In order to continue watching this content, you will need an Xfinity TV box or a device that can access the Xfinity Stream App (Roku, certain smart TVs, smartphone, tablet or computer).

Will any other parts of my TiVo experience be affected by this change?

Ted-  I keep seeing party line answers, but no estimate as to when this will be resolved.  Understand that "this runs on an old OS that can no longer be updated", but applications are replatformed every day.  When can we expect this to be resolved?

Apologies. The "resolution" is that both TiVO and Comcast jointly decided to sunset/remove the current On Demand application.  Some options have been presented above.
