HD Zoom button

I had to bring my box in for an exchange because it stopped working. It's non X1 but HD. Can anybody tell me why Comcast decided to get rid of the HD zoom button on the remote?

Hello! Thanks for reaching out to us here online and through our Community Forums. We make changes to our features and services as we gauge customer interests and if certain features are needed. However, to be sure that your picture fits your screen, you can still do this through the settings.

We suggest you change the aspect ratio to the desired option to best fit your screen. Here are the steps on a non-X1 box.

Press either the Menu or Settings button on the remote control that came with your TV.

Select the menu item called Video Format, Aspect Ratio or something similar.

Select the various options (may include Widescreen, Wide, Zoom, Squeeze or Stretch) until the picture fills the screen.

Can you try this and let us know if that helps, please?

I got a new box and remote in May 2022.  There is no way to control HD zoom.  The lack of a control button, to exit zoom mode is horrible.   I feel ripped off.  For this and other reasons, e.g.  no way to turn off automatic channel tuning.  I will be sending that box back and likely cancelling my TV account.  I might just go back to the old box, where at least I could control what station I went to.

@kuhnfucius. I appreciate the feedback and I can understand missing the convenience of a feature you used. Any features or button removed are due to low or no usage. What do you use the HD zoom for? Is it because you have an older TV? If you use these instructions and turn off "Prefer best available Resolution" it should not auto tune. https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/x1-auto-tune-to-hd-channels?view=app
