MeritTV 1094

I have previously been able to view Dr. Phil’s MeritTV channel 1094. But today, I am getting a message of “This channel is no longer available.” Why?!

Xfinity’s leased access agreements with Ocean Communications to carry Merit TV content expired and will no longer be carried by Xfinity as of June 1. However, Merit TV is still available in certain markets on broadcast channels where there are separate agreements to carry it. It was not Comcast’s decision to remove this content — Ocean Communications decided not to renew its leased access agreements with Xfinity, so we are no longer authorized to carry Merit TV. At some point new content is expected to replace Merit TV in the future.

There is an internal 06/01/2025 email telling the Technicians that it will no longer be carried. I am switching to Sling. They have it and are much cheaper. GOODBYE XFINITY!!!

If Xfinity is in the habit of telling us what we are allowed to watch after being a loyal customer for many years it’s probably time for me to leave.  I enjoyed Merit TV I guess I’m looking for a new cable company tomorrow.

I will be looking for another carrier since Xfinity dropped Merit TV. One oh the best and most trustworthy show of all times. My contract is up July 2025.

Hello, @RobertS11 As of June 1, Merit TV is no longer available through Xfinity in some markets as our lease access agreement to carry Merit TV content has expired. Customers can still find Dr. Phil programming and more by saying “Dr. Phil” into their Xfinity Voice Remote or typing it in the search bar for viewing options.

Comcast needs to negotiate with Merit Media tv to get it back. It's a great channel that offers good programming.

Mom is 98 and enjoys Merit TV....May have to look for alternative service. At her age she deserves her original line up and shouldn't have to wait for the negotiations......We signed up for what she liked, you should provide as represented

I am sorry for the experience this brings to your mother. I know my dad also enjoys programing that is no longer being offered with Xfinity too. Most of the channels we provide to our customers are owned by media companies other than Comcast. We obtain the rights to carry channels according to contracts with those companies, which expire from time to time. Like any contracts, programming agreements exist for a fixed period of time and then expire. Comcast has successfully renegotiated thousands of expiring contracts over the years and rarely experienced an interruption of service but they do happen. I totally get how this is not the best answer or the most desirable and I am really sorry. @user_abinga

@XfinityDena Thanks for your reply.  In Seattle, instead of Merit, we are getting the Cowboy channel.  (CC).  When will negotiations with Merit be completed or when will the "guide" be corrected.  The guide still says that MERIT is "free to me", and it shows MERIT programming.  Thank you

gr8white6 Us agents will not have information on specific negotiations or timelines for renewals of these contracts. We only receive updates when the contract has been renegotiated. At Xfinity we do our best to maintain as much content as we can so I will never rule out that we won't get this channel back at some point. The guide will be updated if there is no renegotiation.

Heard there may still be negotiations ongoing, so we can hold out some hope for it to be brought back. Perhaps viewers can voice their support to encourage the parties involved to come to an amicable solution.

I spoke to a Tier 2 tech on Sunday, 6/1 & he said there was no reason I should not be getting this channel, would take up to 72 hours to correct. Still waiting! According to info provided to me Sunday evening there was no negotiation issues. MeritStreet is more than old Dr.Phil talk shows, pleas continue carrying

user_n5g3lr I can't promise how the negotiations will go, but hopefully we can come to an agreement that will allow us to continue to carry the network for you.

The conversation I had with a tech was yesterday. I guess we'll have to see what occurs. There's definitely a lot of good shows in addition to Dr. Phil who developed Merit Street Media. There's apparently another contractor involved but not sure of their name....sounded like Oceania or something similar????

They keep dropping channels and rasing price. First FETV and now merit. Time to switch.

It's unfortunate about Merit TV if it  was a Comcast leased channel or a dedicated  channel I just read today July 15, 2025 it will shut down due to Chapter 11  bankruptcy.

Merit Street Media, the cable TV network founded by television personality Dr. Phil McGraw, is reportedly facing an imminent shutdown following a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing, according to a recent report by The Hollywood Reporter. Launched in April 2024, Merit TV aimed to provide family-oriented programming and unbiased news coverage but has struggled to gain traction, leading to severe financial difficulties for its parent company, Merit Street Media.

My comment Steve was that as channels disappear from the Xfinity lineup I'm not seeing a drop in price from Xfinity for less channels? !!

@911REWINDER I totally agree with you when they discontinue one channel for whatever reason or move it to another tier we should be getting discounts that includes the outrageous broadcast to tax fees  but that's unfortunately not the case  Comcast it's all about $$$$.

I think Comcast and Merit were aware of this bankruptcy prior to removal and it would have been nice to they let us know rather than the scripted "we've negotiated thousands and thousands of contracts and never had a problem." Be honest with you I'm really getting tired of the "repeat parrot agents" they need to address our concerns rather than repeating a script.

Fortunately I'm able to still watch it on my local channel and of course there's always the free app that you can download by going to the Meritstreetmedia website.
