NBC Bay Area Sportsnet no longer available?
I was looking to watch a Warriors basketball game this weekend and saw that we no longer get the BayArea Sportsnet channel. I just spent an hour on with an Xfinity customer service person that explained it was out of Xfinity's control. I asked why are we paying a regional sports fee to watch local channels like ABC, CBS, etc to watch sports we can watch on standard local channels. Xfinity is absolutely unfair and charging more $ for less and apparently lock you in so you can't get away, even though you can keep making changes and increasing fees. Terrible customer service and treatment.

Hey there, user_c9dejc! Thank you so much for taking the time to reach out to us here on the Xfinity Forums. I completely understand as we are avid sports watchers in our household, any missed games or plays is frustrating. Comcast is pleased to have reached agreements with NBC Sports Bay Area and NBC Sports California to continue offering their networks in a way that reflects the changing video marketplace for local sports and provides our customers with a choice. NBC Sports Bay Area and NBC Sports California will be available on the Ultimate TV level of service. In order to receive the channel, it would require an upgrade to your services. We would be more than happy to explore all options with you, please let us know.

Shocking, does this mean that all the sports surcharges on my bill will go away or will you still bill me for things you no longer provide?

Hello I have this exact issue. My regional sports channels were removed from my channel lineup. I am not upgrading to a higher cost package in order to have these channels. And yet my new bill not only still includes the regional sports network fees it has increased! So I am paying $19 a month to cover the cost of providing channels I do not have. I have talked to two live customer service representatives after agonizing “chats” to get there who said it was a mandatory government fee. This is completely false. Without resolution I plan on reaching out to every government official I can think of and the consumer protection agency.

Same here, for the privilege of losing both NBC Sports California and Bay Area, I am now paying $17 more per month. Awesome. Thanks.

I just received my bill an even after the NBC Sports Bay Area channel was removed from my package, I am still being charge a regional sports fee. I had previously received an email that this fee will be reduced, but it has not been reduced in my latest bill. Is canceling my service the only way to get this resolved?

...xfinity support in "chat" are saying it will take two billing cycles for the RSN Fee to be reduced/removed. So they get to remove the channels in the middle of Jan, but we have to keep paying for them until April. At which point, they are supposed to give credits on the bill. We shall see....

Ya, this is ridiculous. We watch all the local Warriors games and now I can't get them without upgrading for $30 more a month for the Ultimate package. Already paying like $122 for cable, local fees (which I'm not even getting the one local channel I like now) plus have to pay like $10 for the sports package....and still can't get local sports.
Oh, and pay the $10 for NBA TV, only to find out if the Warriors are on NBA TV, they get blacked out. Nice..............
Seems it's time to finally switch to Hulu or YouTube TV for the $80-$85 whatever they charge now. Enough is enough at some point.

"The fascinating part about this move is that Comcast, who owns Xfinity, is forcing the NBC Sports regional networks also owned by Comcast to capitulate to the demands of the cable provider. In turn, the regional sports networks will receive less in carriage fees as fewer Xfinity subscribers pay for the higher tier."

The best I got was a $19 credit on January 31st for my January bill, but of course my February bill and future bill still shows the $19 regional sports fee. This is really frustrating because I’ve wasted hours chatting and talking to agents who say they have resolved the issue but the billing says otherwise. Why am I paying a $19 regional sports fee for NBC Sports Bayarea and CA channels that have been bumped to the higher ultimate tier. It might be time to contact the FCC and maybe [Edited: "Political"].

Anyone have any luck yet? If this isn't resolved with the next bill, I'm out.

Since those channels were taken away, I can no longer watch the Golden State Warriors. I’m very disappointed and frustrated.
How can I see the Warriors??
Thank you

On that same theme, last night, 3/4/25, we settled in to watch the Warriors on TNT, only to learn that "contractual arrangements" forced a blackout of the game in the Bay Area, since it was being broadcast on NBC Bay Area Sports--for which I cannot afford to pay the upgrade. There's a game scheduled for 3/13 to be broadcast on ABC. What are the chances that some new contract will make viewing that game impossible? My husband and I have been comcast xfinity subscribers since we moved to California in 1997. I'm now 80 years old, on limited income, and watching the Warriors has been a major source of enjoyment. Not so much in the future, I guess.

The increase in fees to keep NBC Bay Area Sports is outrageous AND compounded with the increase in fees even if we don't upgrade to keep it! We have friends who just told us they are switching to YouTube TV and it's possible to get the regional sports with that for less money. Unless Xfinity can make this right for us we will be following them very shortly as baseball season is about to start. I saw the other posts but I don't see a direct messaging icon at the upper right of my screen, and trying to use the link in one of the previous messages does not lead me to a direct messaging page. Can you clarify what options are available as soon as possible? Otherwise we (very longtime Comcast/Xfinity customers) will be gone very soon.
