Xfinity box won’t turn on
Hello,
I am having an issue with my box not turning when I power on the tv with my X1 remote. The box seems to be in sleep mode and the “Power” button on the Xfinity remote will not wake it up out of sleep mode. I do not have the power save option turned on. The only way to turn on/wake up my box when it won’t respond is to physically unplug it from the back and then plug it back in. The light on the front of the box never turns off, even when it won’t respond (not sure if this means anything). This is my second box with Comcast because of this issue and it will not fix it. Any help is appreciated. I have a Toshiba TV.

I do not have a Power button on my box. When I press the “power button” on Xfinity remote the TV goes on, but I get a black screen (the white light on my box is on however). Because I don’t get a “no signal” screen but instead just a black screen, it leads me to believe the box is just not responding? Power saver is off in Xfinity settings and always has been.

Hello, Redbird_2016!
I'd like to help with this issue. It looks like you have gotten some great feedback thus far. @Rustyben made a great suggestion, can you try just changing the input on your tv back and forth the next time you experience this issue and see if that helps? It may not stop the issue altogether, but it may be an easier fix than having to get up and unplug the box until we are able to find a more permanent solution. I look forward to your next update.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately the issue happened again this morning and switching between different live inputs did not resolve the problem. I had to revert back to unplugging my box.

did you check to be sure power save function is 'off' and did you change to an active device/HDMI port and after video displays then changing back to the DVR?

I'm having exactly the problem that OP describes.
XG1-v4 box. Nothing at all exciting about my setup - Coax into the cable box, HDMI into the TV.
I've tried switching inputs doesn't do a thing.
Does replacing the box help? This is super frustrating. Unplugging the stupid thing and plugging it back in works, but that takes ~5 minutes, and interrupts service to the rest of the house as well.

1. Unplugged and plugged back in. Box reboots. Works. However if left for a few hours/overnight, it apparently goes into a sleep mode and doesnt “wake up.” I too do not have a power button.
2. A quicker way to reset the box is to restart via the My Account app. However, we should not have to do this every time to use the service
3. Got Xfinity to come and swap out my box. Next day, same issue.

you may have the one LED on front XG1v4 4K/UHD set to box DVR. Comcast said they are working on a fix for the issue. I just change TV input to roku or chromecast then back to the DVR and the TV wakes up the video connection (buffer of current channel still available).

I'm having the same issue as OP. I've tried to change the input and then go back, but it's not helping. This is extremely annoying as I also have to unplug the cable box every time. When I unplug the HDMI, somehow the audio works but the image does not turn on.

As usual I turn my tv off at night then wake up in the am to watch the news. However, since getting this box the tv reads this every time I use the “all power” button to turn things on. “Check that the device is connected properly, then try turning on the device by selecting the button below” (a picture of the all power button)
The light is on, ln the box. Switching through different active sources on the tv does not work.
I have to physically remove the power cable and re-attach it for the device to start working.
What’s going on here?
