Xfinity 4k - XG1v4 Cable Box Availability

Called Xfinity and asked about the availability of XG1v4 cable boxes at my location (WA state), which has the capability to stream 4k content through Netflix.  Was assured, with repeated confirmations, that they were available to the local service store, would just have to bring in my existing cable box and exchange it.  Bought a nice LG OLED TV, upgraded my Netflix account to receive Ultra HD, and took my box down to the local service center for exchange, per customer service direction.  You can probably guess what happened next - "sorry, we don't have any 4k boxes, don't know when we will".  Anyone else been misled by the Xfinity garbage customer service?  Went online to see what lies they convey on their website regarding this matter, and found this:  https://www.xfinity.com/support/cable-tv/uhd-4k-faqs/   More misleading BS.  Wanted to warn anyone else potentially in the same situation as myself not to believe anything you are told or read about the availability of XG1v4 boxes; go to your service center first to confirm.

How do you find 4k on Youtube with the xg1v4? I've been watching Youtube in 4k on my TV"s app.

I received the XG1v4 today, it was easy to set up.  I have the HDMI output going through my 4K Sony receiver to my 4K Sony TV without any problems.  The sound level from the XG1v4 seems be be the same as my XG1v1.  Hopefully Comcast will update their YouTube app to 4K soon because it is currently only 1080p.

Did you purchase a 4k compliant HDMI cable to connect between the 4k DVR and your television? Comcast has not been supplying a 4K HDMI cable.

Also; how do you know your Sony AV box can pass a 4K signal? If the manual does not specifically say so, it cannot pass anything over 1080p. There is no reason you should not get You Tube for 4K programs if you are set up correctly.

The You Tube app will show a "4K" heading off to the right of "Recommended" and other headings, if it recognizes you television as 4k. You can also type in the search field (above the Headings): "4K HDR test patterns" to use for video adjustments, or show you actually viewing 4k or HDR signals.

Comcast in the kit I received supplied an HDMI cable.  I can select 4K 60fps. and my TV when I press the info button shows it is receiving a 4K signal.  I tried a system reset and YoutTube still is in the 1080p mode.  Also if YouTube detects 4K one of the top columns should have a 4K category.  I get 4K HDR through my Sony Blu-ray player on YouTube and the 4K Blu-ray discs.

You did what I was going to suggest. There may be some bugs in Comcast's interface used for You Tube. Their Netfix version seems to be working better now. Check out the You Tube test patterns to compare the two ways of viewing 4K on You Tube.

I'm still not getting 4k on the youtube app, not sure why it wouldn't detect the TV as its an LG 4k Oled and thexg1v4 is plugged directly into the TV with a good audioquest hdmi cable

Thank you Rusty. I was not aware the Comcast app for You Tube was not handling 4k streaming yet.

I would like to put an order in for the 4K box as well, but since I'm a new user I can't send private messages. Can I get any help?

Thank you

I just received my new XG/V$ box from comcast, how do I connect my Yamaha RX-V375 to it so I can get surround sound. I have both remotes ( Vizio 4k tv) programmed. The tv remote works ok, but the Yamaha remote can control the amp features, but not sound? Am I missing a connection somewhere?
