The cable splitter (?) in my closet is beeping entry so often

I'm not sure what this is for, but it says Active Return PPC 9M UU. It has one green light lit up on it, I had no idea it was even on or plugged in until the beeping started.

Hey Hedgehodgey, thanks for reaching out to Xfinity Support on our forums. It is an amplifier that is used for households that have a lot of boxes or need more signal. I'm sure that beeping would get annoying quick though. Is the power supply visible and reachable? If so you might try unplugging it until the light shuts off and plug it back in. That may reset it so the beeping goes away. Just note that it may shut off all your service until it is plugged back in.

I think you're right, we do have quite a few boxes. I wondered if the good ole unplug and plug back in would be a good place to start, but i was worried it might do something bad. I will give that a shot this weekend and report back.  Thank you!

Hedgehodgey You're very welcome and thanks for double-checking! I had a smaller one at the last house and knew instatly the kids unplugged it when everything stopped working randomly haha. If that doesn't work, we can always send a tech to switch it out. I hope you have a great weekend and we'll talk to you soon!

Is it actually "beeping", or is it buzzing / humming ?

It beeps once every 30 minutes or so.

Hmmm.... First time I've ever heard of a drop amp beeping. I could be wrong but I don't think that there is anything inside of it like a speaker or a sound transducer that can beep. And I can't fathom what the purpose of it would be. Sorry that I can't be of more help. Maybe someone else will come along with a brainstorm. You could try contacting the manufacturer about it. Good luck !

Well I just sat in there and waited for a beep then behind my clothes I see this thing.. I just confirmed THIS IS WHAT'S BEEPING any additional thoughts? We do not have TDS

@Hedgehodgey

Those pics are not showing up. You could try hosting them somewhere and posting the link to them here.

It's says cyberpower cybershield. It must be from the previous owner of this home. But that's the beep culprit

I think the Cyberpower Cybershield is a battery backup to keep the drop amp powered during outages.   I had to add a battery backup to the drop amp in my basement to keep my connection live during power outages.

The battery in the backup as a finite lifetime and the device will beep when it's time to replace the battery (or the entire battery backup device if the battery is non-replaceable in that model).

Ok but that's just a workaround, not a fix... If it's a UPS, now you have no power backup.. Model number ???
