Xfinity Stream suddenly missing local channels such as ABC and NBC on an Amazon Fire TV

My Xfinity Stream app suddenly has lost access to local channels such as ABC and NBC ( maybe more ) on an Amazon Fire TV.  These channels have always been available on this TV before but now are gone for some reason.  If I try to click on them, I get a message "Please connect to your in-home WiFi".  This only happens on this one TV.  The local channels all come up fine on the app on my other TV's, my PC, and Android phone.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app to no avail.  I cannot understand why this is suddenly happening.  Has anyone else experienced this or have any ideas?

Hey Xfinity,  are you going to do something about this or do I need to cancel my service?

It's important to have these TVGO channels and we don't have to connected to in home network. Get your stuff together or a whole bunch will cancel service

I spoke to a representative in advanced tech support. They are aware of the problem and are attempting to fix it. There is an option for them to notify us when it is fixed which I signed up for. At least that is a better answer than some tech people are giving. She was very knowledgeable about what has been going on.

I’m having the same exact issue as well for about a week now first the message said not connected to internet, which it was/is….. now the message says the channels are not included in my subscription…. [Edited: Profanity] so frustrated right now…..

Same issue for past few days- no ABC on stream with iphone on cellular service. Works on home WiFi but not when out . Technician said they are working on it but could not give any idea on timeline to fix.

Hello @Coachhd, thank you for taking the time to reach out on social media.

 

If you are still experiencing the issue where you see the subscription message, please try these steps if you are using an Xfinity TV Box.

 

1. Press the A button on your remote control to access the Help Menu.
2. Press the OK button to select the Restart title.
3. Press the OK button again to select Restart.
4. It may take a few moments for the TV Box to restart.

 

If you use the Xfinity Stream App to view your TV content, please log out, uninstall the Xfinity Stream App, and then reinstall the app. You will be prompted to log back in. If the app is still not working for you after doing that, please let us know.

The loss of ABC and CBS is being experienced by many according to the Comcast Customer Service people I have talked to.  They claim to be working on a solution, however my CBS has been down for more than 2 months.   They claim that because I am on Xfinity Stream,  and not on my Home Network , there is a problem.  During the summer months when we are on the road, we use other networks to get into our Xfinity account for streaming.   

This is an unfair situation since our account includes these channels and I should be able to access them from the internet anywhere.   I recently connected to an Xfinity Hotspot with my laptop and again could not get these two channels. 

I continue to be underwhelmed with xfinity services.  We have been without Peacock Premium, again on my account for over 3 months on my home network.

If an alternative service becomes available, we will be terminating our account with Xfinity.

Yes this has been going on for the last 2 weeks and I have no idea what is going on and XFinity said there is not an outage so what are we supposed to do in the meantime

We are having the same issue. It was corrected last week and was fine until yesterday when we lost the channel access again. Agreed - we will be looking at other providers!

Add me to the long list of customers who are unable to use the Xfinity Stream app away from home to access local channels. Since this is a major reason why I’ve kept Comcast it’s definitely time to look at a change. It’s hard to understand why they don’t suggest a solution, but respond to every message on this forum, as if they are hearing the problem for the first time.

Your experience has been ours as well - the techs are clueless that this is a system wide issue (or are not allowed to admit it is). I even sent them screen shots of all of the comments to validate the need to escalate the issue to the higher ups. Last week the issue seemed to be fixed and this weekend it was happening again! For us, it seems to have started when the app updated. They need to correct this ASAP or they are going to lose many customers - we are one that are about to cut that cord!!

@XfinityVictor​ First, thank you for being upfront about this. We now understand from you that this is intentional, not a technical glitch. Xfinity has removed some local channels for licensing issues apparently. If you check the website to verify customer's ability to receive all these channels, it confirms that we should be able to - so either the website is wrong or your information is incorrect. It would seem odd that licensing issues would allow these channels to be received on our laptops and apps and phones but not on a smart tv connected via wifi to the same network as these others. Others above report that they were actually able to fix the issue. So are there are licensing issues or not?

@XfinityVictor​ I was able to confirm that all of the  missing channels: CBS, ABC, PBS, FOX 2, are all shown as TVGO out of home channels I can access via the same wifi out of home, whether on my computer, tablet or phone. It is only an issue on fire stick connected to a TV. Clearly this is a technical glitch. Can Xfinity fix?  There does not appear to be a way to attach a screenshot.

I am experiencing the same. I can no longer stream my local channels (ABC,CBS,FOX etc.) outside of my home WIFI network. I have gotten nowhere with XFINITY chat agents after hours of interactions. This is frustrating and is unacceptable.

I'm having the same issue.  Starting yesterday, Xfinity Stream apps (on Roku, Google TV, Apple, and Android) all stopped showing my normal list of channels.  Has there been any updates on why this keeps occurring?

This is sooo frustrating! When you talk to the Xfinity people they are not helpful (or can't be).  Last week, while traveling and using a fire stick,  some channels (abc, fox) didn't show up at all on the to go listings. I deleted the Xfinity stream app and reinstalled it and they showed up and worked. The next day, they were gone again and I had to reinstall the app once again. We are cutting the cord!

I am having issues with getting live channels on stream. I finally deleted and reinstalled the app on the firestick and seemed to fix it for now. Still not working on my iPhone. Trying to get an agent (chat or phone call) is practically non-existent. 45 in line before me. Finally got someone in the chat and then they disconnected me. Horrible customer service.

The issue was fixed on my iPhone. I still don't understand why the customer service is so terrible.  We pay lots of money for the internet and when there is a problem it's near impossible to reach someone, even through chat.  It's not fair.

Just happened to us using Roku. ABC FOX and NBC gone. Has just gone though reinstall of Xfinity streaming app a couple days ago because nothing would come up.  Also menu clock seems an hour behind on and off lately.
