Xfinity TV Remote App going away
I just received an email from Xfinity stating that the Xfinity TV Remote App is going away as of 2/11/2025. This is unacceptable. I rely on this app not only to control my TV remotely for my aging mother who cannot change the channels but also to set recordings for TV shows remotely. Why would Xfinity take away a much needed tool from its customers? Please reconsider or offer an alternative that has all the same functionality for remote access and control when not at home where the TV box is located. I looked at the web browser remote and it is not an acceptable alternative. It is lacking most of the functionality that is in the Xfinity TV Remote App.

@user_41287d this has been their way forever. Cloud based service is [Edited: Language] and never works like it should. ,
You get a FRACTION of the MBPS you pay for and the price is beyond inconsistent. I removed some services a while back and now the price is higher than it was with less service. [Edited: "Soliciting"]. Xfinity sent someone out because they “detected” I wasn’t getting speeds I should get. All they did is plug in a booster. I pay for 150 Mbps and get 40 on a good day. I also have been a customer for 20 years and I don’t get the same cheaper price a new customer gets. Not rewarding loyalty is just silly business and feels like a slap in the face. And don’t get be started on trying to get someone on the phone!

I agree, didn’t see the email and was trying to figure out why it wasn’t working. That is how I set all my recordings. Maybe Xfinity should be lowering there prices rather then raising them. Another reason to go to youtube tv

I just found this out, thought something was wrong with my phone. Will be moving to a different service this weekend. Price is ridiculous and features are being taken away.

I totally agree…we pay so much money for XFINITY and now they take away the most useful tool they have! It worked well and was so easy to record shows with. I really really despise this company, they are just awful and don’t care about customers at all, just increasing their bottom dollar at our expense.

I totally agree with everyone. My last remote broke and no longer worked, Luckily I had the app. What if this new remote breaks and I can’t get to xfinity store right away? To be honest, I found the app easier to use than the remote. So when it broke, I did not miss it! So tired of xfinity taking things away but increasing the rates. Throw us a bone and bring it back!

I agree with everyone. Is there a way to bring back this app?! I used this app everyday as it is one of my most used apps. This was one of the highlights of Xfinity and one of the reasons I have kept my Xfinity cable. Going to a web browser as an alternative….? That was a smarter move? Please reconsider.

I’m so angry that they got rid of the remote app. The web remote isn’t anything like it, no guide, no on demand, no dvr manager. If anything they should be investing more in the remote app and adding more great features. Btw not everyone wants to talk to their tv!

This is unacceptable, this was one of the most helpful feature of Comcast and for the money we pay to be customers…ridiculous!!!

The remote.xfinity.com is useless. It is just a duplicate of the handheld remote. The now discontinued app was great. TV and DVR control in one place. Some of the buttons on the web remote do not work.
DVR control through the Xfinity/Saved button is not convenient at all.
What brain trust at Comcast thinks this is better?

The Xfinity TV Remotes app may actually have been the one product that was actually Simple, Easy and Awesome. The Xfinity Stream app is fine for its purpose. You can get to most of the information but it doesn’t integrate with the X1 service. Is this the first sign X1 is going away? Please tell us before it does!
The web based remote is a middle school coding exercise. If you make a shortcut on your phone the retro icon says it all; welcome to the 90’s.

I am so upset that Xfinity/ Comcast did away with the Remote Control App. It was so easy to see & scroll. The stupid regular physical remote does not work. The physical remote has a hair-trigger & sends me places I don't want to go or locks up my tv. I only use the hand held remote to turn it off & on & the volume. I would plan my entire evening of tv viewing based on the remote app. I could change channels from anywhere in the house. This may sound silly, but I feel like I lost a friend. I cant see the other remote & it does not work. Old time remotes used to have arrows where I could just go from channel to channel like from 2 to 3 to 4 etc. but now due to the repeat digital stations they make us think are a great deal, it sends me from channel 2 to channel 799!!!! Its so annoying. How dare you remove this!!! YOU KEEP INCREASING OUR INVOICES BUT YOU NEVER ADD STATIONS WE WANT (I have been asking for RFD for 10 years!) & YOU TAKE SERVICES AWAY!!!! No wonder folks do all they can to get rid of this company. You do not care about your customers whatsoever!

I am out of town for an extended period and I used this app to record shows for my disabled daughter to watch when we return home. Today I learned the app has been disabled. I checked into the web remote app and it doesn't seem to connect to my DVR, even though everything seems to be connected properly. This is really annoying. Losing this type of functionality is exactly why people are dropping cable.

It appears you’re not interested in keeping customers satisfied. Why is that?
