Will the Xi6 4K wireless STB work with the Gateway in Bridge Mode?

I have a Xb-7, it is setup in Bridge Mode with an Ubiquiti Router for my LAN and WiFi Access Point.

1st Question: I've been told the Xi6 in wireless will NOT work my WiFi, the Gateway needs to be in normal mode, HOWEVER will the Xi6 work with the LAN connection provided on the Xi6 with my private LAN ?

I have told both YES and NO ....has anyone done this and confirm whether it works or not?

2nd Question: Will the Xi6 4K STB work on the XfinityWifi hotspot if it is enabled on my XB7 ?

Thanks

Hello @Phast1! Thank you for reaching on our community forum. I can definitely understand the desire to use your own router with the equipment. The X1 Wireless TV Box will only work with customer-owned modems/routers if you have upgraded from Xfinity Flex. Using an ethernet cable is not guaranteed to work, and the hotspot won't work as it needs to be connected to your in home network. This link goes over most frequently asked questions.

@XfinityJennifer Hi Jennifer,

We (my community) is on a Bulk Cable/Internet plan.  We are a RFoG FTTH.  (I'm the community facility liaison to Comcast).

I have 1 X1 DVR XG1v4 (which is my hub), 1X XG2, 3X XiD. (our contract is for 5 STB)

I would like to replace the XG2 with an Xi6 IF it would work on ethernet through my router (I'm in Bridge mode on the XB-7).  I have ethernet/LAN at that TV, but since the Xi6 is primarily a wireless 4K box, I'm not sure if the ethernet would work?

I've asked my REP and any number of Comcast techs....and have both YES and NO answers.

Thank you for those details @Phast1. Using an ethernet cable in this situation wouldn't work with the modem in bridge mode. I sincerely regret I didn't have better news for you.

@XfinityJennifer I appreciate the Correct Direct answer....it saves a lot of experimenting time.

So that brings me to the next question?  Can I use 2 XG1v4 on the same network / sub drop ?

Most accounts just need one DVR for the home/network. You can have more additional boxes, however.

So.....the question is, if I get another XG1v4, can it be added to my system without the DVR functions?  I don't need more DVR capacity, we hardly use the capacity on the main DVR hub.  XG1v4, have been hard to get in our 'market'.

Hello @Phast1, thanks for reaching back out to us on the forums and that is a great question!

Since the XG1v4 is our 4K Ultra HD DVR it would have the DVR functions enabled since it is a DVR. We do have other cable boxes available that are not DVRs but can still access your recorded shows as well. Thes would have all the same features as the DVR other than the ability to record programs and they wouldn't be 4K compatible.

I no longer work for Comcast.
