Why does Xfinity frequently "lose" Fox News channel? All other channels work fine. I get error code XRE -03136 on Fox News only. Why?

I can watch any other channel, but so many days Xfinity drops the Fox News Channel. I get the code XRE 03136 only on Fox News. Why does this keep happening?

Hi @Gwham99. That is a great question! Please try manually unplugging your cable box and plugging it back in. This will refresh the signal and apply any updates that may be stuck.

Thanks for the response. Every time this happens, I do restart the Device and it allows the channel to work. It’s just frustrating to have to do this frequently. We have had the cable box for 5 years and it may need to be replaced. I’m going to assume that’s the issue and hopefully not which channel I watch. 😉

We can most certainly understand where that could become a pain if having to do it frequently! We'd be happy to continue with any troubleshooting with you to see if we can pinpoint the issue!
Additionally, we have some awesome troubleshooting resources available online via the Xfinity website, as well as our handy Xfinity application if preferred!
It is always an option to swap out equipment as well, as you'd made mention, though without going through the troubleshooting steps, we cannot guarantee for 100% that is the root cause of the issue.
If preferred, you can swap out at any of our local Xfinity stores with our teammates! You can visit https://comca.st/3uhGapm to find the closest one!
Or, we can also assist with equipment swaps too! You'll just want to join us in a more private environment so we can get some additional information to place an order! Please feel free to follow the steps outlined below and include your first and last name and full service address if that is the route you'd like to take!

I have never been able to get CNBC.  I have a new box, but the same was true with my old box.  Instead I get a message saying the channel is unavailable.  Yet it is a basic service channel, and I pay for many more channels than basic service.

The problem is that some of these news channels (in the HD section) happen to be located at frequencies that can pick up RF interference from appliances, certain types of lighting, equipment used near the box. Channels used can vary between service centers. If your current incoming signal is weaker than normal it can happen on a few frequencies.
