Split Screen on TV

I have an the cable box that gets 4K - can't find model number.  I turned on the TV this afternoon and the screen was split in half vertically.  Both sides showed the same picture. I tried a couple different channels and it was the same thing. I unplugged and plugged it back in and it was then OK.  However, that was very odd.  I searched online but can find no information on this.  I hesitate to call Xfinity support as it is such a strange thing that it would probably be very frustrating to try to get help.  I have used the forum before and gotten help from both consumers and Comcast employees so I'm starting here.  Again - it resolved with a restart but I'm wondering if I need a new cable box?  I am a senior (74) and get very nervous when these things happen.  Thanks for any help anyone can offer

Just wanted to let you know @MNtundraRET - that I called for a tech since I was getting black screens.  The tech was very knowledgeable and found that several connections from outside to my apartment were loose as well as a connection in my bedroom was bent.  He fixed everything and so far so good.  I do appreciate your trying to help me - thanks again

If you check your television's manual, you will find it may have a split screen option.

I suspect, the tv may. If the tv received a wrong code (poor aiming of remote), it may have caused the split screen.

I have never seen it happen on a cable, or OTA channel, but I have seen it on You Tubes rarely since 2015. Usually a picture in picture.

Pausing, and continuing video clears the problem.

@MNtundraRET

Thank you for answering. I checked my TV Manual and it definitely does NOT have a split screen option.  Also, I use the Xfinity remote to turn the TV on and off.  I use a receiver for sound so everything is plugged into the receiver and then I have an HDMI cable from the receiver to the TV.  So - as I said - unplugging the box and then replugging to reboot fixed it for now.  I guess if it happens again - I'll call them for a new box - unless anyone else has seen this problem and knows what it is.  Again, thank your reply.

The coaxial cable goes from wall to cable-box. Then connect a HDMI cable from box to television.  The speakers should be connected by another HDMI cable to the television.
