I noticed that the descriptive language for smart resume has updated. Now it says it's not available until 30 minutes after the recording ends. I don't believe that's new performance... but the description never said that.
Hope Xfinity isn't about to announce that it's an extra service for which we have to pay more.

1. Check Your Device Settings
Smart Resume is available on Xfinity X1 and Flex devices, and it works when you pause or record live TV, allowing you to skip past commercials when you resume playback. If it’s not working properly, ensure the following:
Smart Resume is enabled in your settings.
You are watching a program that supports Smart Resume (certain channels and shows may not be supported).
2. Restart Your Xfinity Device
Soft Restart: Sometimes, simply restarting your Xfinity box (X1 or Flex) can resolve issues with Smart Resume. You can restart your box by:
Pressing and holding the Power button on the front of the box for about 10 seconds, or
Going to Settings > Device Settings > Restart on the X1 menu.
Unplug and Plug Back In: If a soft restart doesn’t work, try unplugging the box for 10-15 seconds and then plugging it back in.
3. Check for Software Updates
Sometimes, a software update is needed to resolve bugs or glitches. Ensure that your Xfinity box has the latest firmware:
Go to Settings > Device Settings > System Info, and check for any available updates.
If there’s an update available, install it, and check if Smart Resume works after the update.
4. Confirm the Program Is Eligible for Smart Resume
Smart Resume may not always work on all content. Some networks and shows might not allow this feature to work due to restrictions from content providers. It’s best to test it on a different channel or recording that you know should support Smart Resume.
5. Clear Cache or Reset Your Xfinity Stream App (if using the app)
If you’re using the Xfinity Stream app on a mobile device, Smart Resume may not function properly if there’s an app issue.
Clear cache in the app’s settings or uninstall and reinstall the app.

Same thing happening here. Have had smart resume for several years. Have had a glitch or 2 for a day or so or a show that i know it’s available on BUT for the last 4 days or so none of the shows I have DVRd that always had smart resume do NOT have it.
I had a puzzling experience a couple of days ago. I started watching my recording of "The Irrational." Since I have been experiencing the non-functioning of Smart Resume for some days, I was not surprised when this recording did not show the yellow commercial sections on the timeline. A few minutes later, I started to fast-forward and, as if by magic, the yellow commercial gaps were there, and they functioned as expected for the rest of that show. That has, however, not happened on any other show. I thought the problem had been fixed, but alas, no. Please keep working on it, Xfinity. I sent a message with specific examples of other shows where this has happened.
@user_s07694 As my colleagues have mentioned, Smart Resume is not available for every network and program. One potential factor that is sometimes overlooked is that Smart Resume will not work on standard definition programs and only works for select programs on NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX, CW, Bravo, HGTV, Discovery, MTV and TLC. If you're viewing a program recorded on a different network, it will not have the Smart Resume option. Smart Resume is turned on by default for all of our customers.

Did anyone else record "Tracker" on 11/17/2024 and try Smart Resume? It would help to have evidence that Smart Resume was (or was not) working on that show for other people.
I would love to know what "fixed" means. Is Smart Resume something that Xfinity has to insert into the recording, or (as I have read) the networks control it, or (as I have also read) that it is automatic? It certainly isn't an exact science as sometimes the recording "sees" a commercial when one is not actually present and vice versa. But, as flawed as it is (was?), it is certainly a welcome addition to TV watching. I have long wondered why advertisers tolerate its existence.
@jamesd7 I recorded it and smart resume is missing from it. It's been missing from all available channels for a week now, last Tuesday was the last time it worked.
@jamesd7 no smart resume .. we recorded Tracker.. so frustrated.. my account has message that upgrades happening in my area. Well, get it done already Xfinity!!!
@Chameye us too .. very frustrating to say the least .. if you're late paying their bill, you get shut off. . Why can't this issue get the same attention as non-payment

It is now working on my DVR box. But smart resume is not working on Xfinity stream app on my Roku streaming stick. Do I need to upgrade my Roku streaming stick for the smart resume to work on the Xfinity stream app!
Hi @Annamweb Thank you for reaching out on the smart resume feature. I would recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the app. In the settings on the stream app make sure smart resume is turned on. It will under these steps in the app Settings > Playback Preferences, then toggle Smart Resume off or on.

Yesterday the bars turned white (instead of the usual yellow) and said fast-forwarding wasn't available. Now there's no Smart Resume at all. Very frustrating. It seems Xfinity can't even figure it out. Yes, these are network shows I've always recorded and where smart resume used to work for years.
