DVR not playing entire program

Some programs on my DVR have been exiting the show early. For instance, it shows a 30 minute recording but exits out at 25 minutes. The bar across the bottom still shows 5 minutes left but I can't get it to play past minute 25.

Hello userjms are you able to follow these directions to extend your recording times? 

Change Recording Start or Stop Time

 

  1. Press the xfinity button on the remote.
  2. Use the arrow buttons on the remote to highlight Saved and press OK.
    Saved option is highlighted in the menu.
  3. Highlight Scheduled and press OK.
    The Scheduled option in the Saved menu of your X1 programming
  4. Highlight a program to modify and press OK.
    Use the down arrow button to highlight a program.
  5. Highlight Record Options and press OK.
    Record Options in your X1 programming
  6. Highlight Modify and press OK.
    Modify X1 recording options
  7. Highlight Just this episode and press OK.
    Highlighting Just this episode in your X1 recordings
  8. Highlight the Start time and use the left or right arrow buttons to modify - select either 1 or 2 minutes early.
    Start Time Options in your X1 DVR recordings
  9. Highlight the Stop time and use the left or right arrow buttons to modify - select between 1, 5 or 30 minutes late (options for live programming - 30, 60, or 90 minutes late).
    Stop Time option with On Time selected.
  10. Highlight Confirm and press OK.
    The Confirm option is at the top of the Record Options screen
  11. A message confirming your recording will display.
    A confirmation message displaying the program name, broadcast time and channel on your X1 DVR.

Hi there, @userjms, thanks for reaching out and that is definitely strange that your DVR will record for the full 30 minutes but only allow you to watch for the first 25 minutes of the program. This must be related to a hardware issue on the device itself since you mentioned you don't have any problems with the cloud storage portion itself. The issue isn't that the entire program has recorded.  I have a roughly 30 minute recording for a 30 minute program.  The problem is that it will only play to minute 25 of the recording and exit out as if the program was over, when the time bar still shows 5 minutes left.  If I try to stream from the cloud from a different device (not my cable box), it seems to let me watch the whole program, so the whole program is there, it's just not playing through on my cable box.

I have the same problem but it only plays about 5 minutes of the program.

Hello, @Bmurfy. I understand you are seeing similar issues; however, your DVR only captures about 5 minutes of the program. I'm sorry to hear this, but we are here to help. The steps provided above are a great start. Have you had a chance to give this a try? If so, did you see any improvement on the following recordings? Are you seeing this with only certain programs, or does this happen with every network/show you record?
