Message that OnDemand and SVOD packages will not be available as soon as May 31st for Legacy Equipment.

We currently have the older legacy cable boxes.  We are receiving a msg via email and when trying to go to OnDemand that OnDemand and SVOD packages will no longer be available for us to use as soon as May 31st.  We are being instructed to update our equipment to X1 boxes.  From what I am seeing on the forums, everyone with legacy equipment is seeing this.  We do not have Xfinity for our internet provider, we have AT&T for our phones and internet.  Will the new X1 boxes work with a competitor internet provider?  We really don't want to lose OnDemand service, so we don't seem to have any choice but to order new X1 boxes.  Does anyone know definitively if the X1 boxes will work without having Xfinity for your internet provider?  Do I have to request a "special" type of X1 box that has better compatibility?  I went to my local Xfinity store and they really couldn't answer the compatibility question.  They said just order the new stuff and see what happens.  Help !!

Could you please send our team a direct message with your full name and full address? Our team can most definitely take a further look at this issue. To send a "Peer to peer" ("Private") message:
Click "Sign In" if necessary
• Click the "Peer to peer chat" icon
• Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
• Type "Xfinity Support" in the "To:" line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list which appears. The "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line
• Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
• Press Enter to send it

@XfinityXavier Done.  I have put the question in the direct message area.

All X1 boxes require Comcast Internet in order to get any updates. You would need to switch to Comcast Internet to use any X1 type of box.

I do not believe Comcast Internet is needed if you have standard cable boxes (XG series.) None of the apps (Netflix, etc...) will work, but standard TV services will.

I would hope that what you stated is true, But Xfinity Jessie did not mention that option last week.
