Toshiba TV, Xfinity remote won't turn TV on but all other remote functions operate normally.
I have had two different boxes with Xfinity. Tech was here today and swapped the boxes. With both boxes, and different remotes, the issue is still the same. I have to use the TV remote to turn on the TV. Then the Xfinity remote will work normally to change the channels, change the volume, bring up the menu and even turn off the TV. I can then turn the TV back on with the Xfinity remote but if it sits for a time period like 5 minutes, the Xfinity remote's power button will not turn on the TV. I have to use the TV remote to turn the TV on. Repeat cycle.
I've cycled through many of the codes that Xfinity provides and all of them produce the same outcome.

Click "Sign In" if necessary
Click the "direct messaging" icon or https://forums.xfinity.com/direct-messaging
Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
Type "Xfinity Support" in the "To:" line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list which appears. The "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line
Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
Press Enter to send it

Same problem here (with a Toshiba 50C350LU Fire TV) but with a Tivo Series 4 remote, which like the Xfinity remotes mentioned above can function like a universal remote. So the problem is clearly in the TV going into some kind of deep sleep state where it stops paying attention to the IR sensor. Note that the Xfinity & Tivo DVR remotes, like other universal remotes, use IR to communicate to the TV but the Amazon/FireTV remotes use some other wireless communication protocol, so the reason they continue to work is that it's a different communications method altogether. The question is how to tell the TV to continue to watch the IR sensor even after it's been off for 20+ min.

Solution: There's no power saving setting explicitly in the settings that we could find, but there is a setting for voice commands that among other things talks about being able to turn the TV on by voice, but notes that this comes at the price of slightly higher power draw when turned off. We switched this setting & the universal/Tivo remote then worked every time, even if it had been a long time since the TV got switched off. I presume same would be true for other DVR remotes like Xfinitiy's.
