RNG110 appears to be defective?
I have an RNG110 box (yes, it's old) that for a few weeks was pixelating on some of the local SD/HD channels, growing progressively worse, until finally it refuses to show any channel with only the "one moment please, This channel should be available shortly". Attempts to view X1 content are greeted with error SRM-8. I have reset and reconnected this box so many times I can't recall, with no changes.
My internet router is on the same drop and is working perfectly. I have checked the line to the STB from source to terminus and it's in good shape.
The diagnostic screen on the RNG110 shows disconnected, OOB signal is good (and the guide updates properly) but there is no INB connection attempt. So, either my box has failed or something is wrong with provisioning.
As old as this box is it would likely be best to switch to a newer model with X1 compatibility. It is a rented box. Please advise?

Your current box is going obsolete. The X1 series of boxes require using Comcast Internet. If my RNG150N box becomes obsolete I will be forced to drop Comcast cable service. I have DSL for Internet and will never drop it for Comcast Internet.
Yes. You will be charged a monthly fee for the X1 box.

@mfree This link https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/my-account-app-mobile-troubleshooting has great information on trouble shooting your tv services, if you using a splitter to rule out all possibilities I would connect you tv box directly to the coax connection from the wall t see if the splitter could be going bad
