Xfinity comcast.net emails transition to Yahoo

Is there any way to tell when your email is set for this transition? Can we do this on our own prior to reciving the email notice?  I have had this emial for over 20 years and do not like the idea of giving it up and having to go through the process of setting up a new one for all my contact, billings, etc.

Thank you

In their brilliance Xfinity and Yahoo put their heads together and lost my comcast.net e-mail account of twenty years.  It is entirely gone.  I have to migrate my contacts to gmail.

How do you know it's gone?  Unless you've transitioned your email to Yahoo, it's really doubtful that Yahoo has anything to do with this.  And, if you've transitioned, there's not much we can do from here.l

When was the last time you signed in to webmail?  https://connect.xfinity.com/appsuite

Try contacting Customer Security Assurance if you have not migrated.

I can confirm that some of the contacts don't transition over as many of mine didn't. Also I was in my Xfinity account within the last 10-20 days.

Good morning @user_wotz2k, and thanks for posting to the Xfinity forums. Once the account has been transitioned to Yahoo, the only way to access the mail is through Yahoo Mail, and Yahoo would provide the support for that, so I am not sure if there is another way to have the adds removed other than upgrading.

Good morning,

I tried logging into my Comcast.net email from my phone, but it redirected me to an Xfinity page that stated my account is now accessible through Yahoo Mail. I was in the middle of working on something and needed to access my email quickly, so I created a Yahoo account. Now, all of my emails have transferred to Yahoo, and my Comcast inbox is empty.

I’m not happy with the Yahoo platform — it displays numerous ads, and I noticed an option at the top that says “Go ad-free with Yahoo Mail Plus.” I do not want to pay to remove ads. I had previously unsubscribed from many advertisements, and I don’t want them showing up again. Additionally, I’m not finding any clear way to delete or unsubscribe from ads within Yahoo Mail.

Can you please confirm if I have any option to continue accessing my Comcast.net email through Xfinity instead of Yahoo, or if I must now use Yahoo Mail? If Yahoo is the only option, please let me know whether there’s a way to manage or disable the ads without paying for Yahoo Mail Plus. If not, is my only alternative to switch to a completely new email platform such as Gmail or Hotmail?

Thank you for your time and assistance.

Sincerely,
Michelle

@user_wotz2k

Comcast mail has migrated to Yahoo! Mail, and apparently your account has been transferred over.  Your @comcast.net address is still usable through Yahoo! you didn't need to create a new account, just login as you always had but on the Yahoo! site instead.  To get rid of the ads, you would need to upgrade to the Premium account for $5 a month.  So, the answer to your other question is no, you have no other option but to log in to Yahoo! to get your email.  Comcast is shutting down their email service.

Interestingly enough, I've had my email address with Comcast since 2002. Isn't that amazing?

@JR63 I wonder if corporate greed caused Comcast to make people transition their email addresses to Yahoo mail.

You will need to set them up with yahoo's servers.  See this post.

I have received numerous e-mails about transferring my account to Yahoo.

All ask for "Please go to this link"

All are very official looking but most have mailing addresses that do not look

like they are originating from Comcast or Xfinity.

I have forward them to comcast security most with no reply,

a few with "Thank you for bring this to our attention" and no more.

Now receiving warnings for not doing the transfer.

Is there a phone number I can call for assistance.

Age 78 senior.

Thank you

How do I know if my Comcast account has been merged with yahoo?

Are you using a third party email app like Outlook, Thunderbird, Apple/Mac mail?

You will have to accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy from Yahoo before your account is transferred.  The best way to find out is by logging in to webmail where an official verified email will greet you to migrate to Yahoo! Mail.  It will not happen behind the scenes so you will have to accept those before your email will migrate.

Here is information regarding the transition to Yahoo! Mail:

And, from the Yahoo! page:
