lost all comcast email access on outlook and apple. Says the imap.comcast.net server keeps dropping

@XfinityAmandaB​ same issue - yes I can access it fine via web. if I try to access via my Apple Mail it Fails despite all of the credentials and information being correct. I’ve already tried deleting the Mail account and adding it again.

You state you have the same problem.  Can you give us additional details, such as if you've made the switch to yahoo, and what app you are trying to access it through?  Are you able to access it directly via the Xfinity.com website? 

can access email via xfinity website.  all access on ios and windows devices unavailable.  requests IMAP password and won't accept.  confirmed correct passwork is being used.  I have not performed a switch to yahoo.  unaware of what, if anything is required.

using Outlook for iOS and Outlook MS365 apps

Thanks @user_4ix6cl.  Lets verify some settings for your configuration, these should work for almost any app. 

Incoming Mail Server: imap.comcast.net
Incoming Mail Server Port: 993 with SSL ON
If the Mail Client lets you select an authentication method, choose STARTTLS.
  If it asks use: 143 with SSL ON

Outgoing Mail Server Name: smtp.comcast.net
Outgoing Mail Server Port Number: 587 (SMTP)
  If it asks use: 465 (SMTPS)
Encryption: TLS (use SSL if TLS isn't shown.)
Authentication: Type in your Comcast.net email address

Can you please confirm your settings mirror these?  (They're what I use with my personal apps on android and PC and the iPhone we have and seem to work.) 

yes, my settings mirror those you provided.  i deleted the account from my iphone and now cannot add back; other devices mirror same settings

Are you presently using any sort of VPN app on your devices @user_4ix6cl?

No.  this has worked flawlessly for years; started having intermittent problems a few weeks ago.  note i discontinued using xfinity as my isp a few months ago; have accsessed mail via the portal since then.

And when you removed the comcast.net email from your iPhone and tried to add it back what message did you receive?

1. Open your email client (e.g., Outlook, Thunderbird).
2. Navigate to the option to add a new account.
3. Enter your name, Comcast email address (e.g., username@comcast.net), and password.
4. Choose IMAP as the account type.
5. Configure the incoming mail server with:
   • Server Name: imap.comcast.net
   • Port: 993
   • Security: SSL/TLS
   • Username: Your Comcast email address
   • Password: Your Comcast email password
6. Configure the outgoing mail server with:
   • Server Name: smtp.comcast.net
   • Port: 587
   • Security: STARTTLS or SSL/TLS
   • Authentication: Yes, require authentication
   • Username: Your Comcast email address
   • Password: Your Comcast email password
7. Verify the settings and complete the setup process.

Hey there, @user_mvnxnt, thanks for reaching out through Xfinity Forums regarding your email account. What third-party client are you attempting to use to access your email? Have you tried accessing the email through our website, and are you having the same issue?

I was always able to access email via comcast website as well as the outlook app on my pc that i use to have my email readily accessible.

I reset my comcast modem and deleted then added back comcast email to my phone and was able to retrieve my email. This was done in the past 24 hours. I have access to my email on my iphone but none of the folders in my comcast email created to save emails are not syncing to my phone.

This looks like a 2 factor problem. I think Comcast no longer supports 3rd party or some thing broke.

user_te72uk Have you by chance recently reset your login password? 

I wasn't able to do any 'fixes,' but it resumed working properly after a few days. I.e., there must have been a Comcast problem that they fixed on their end.

I tried resetting password multiple times. Still having issues. Thoughts?

are you able to log into Comcast webmail? We want to see if the emails are there and make sure copies of the emails are being left on the server.
