IMAP issues with Comcast since Nov 9th
On Nov 9th, all of my devices quit syncing with Comcast. I use WIndows Outlook 2024 pro and my iphone and Ipad. The error I get on my PC is "we couldn't connect to the incoming (IMAP) server. None of the authentication methods supported by Outlook are supported by your server" I also received a security warning "The server you are connected to is using a security certificate that cannot be verified. The target principal name is incorrect." I then tried my Iphone and Ipad and received the error " Invalid username and/or password. Please check your SMTP user name and password.
Actions taken
- Review and made sure the Incoming and outgoing mail servers were correct (Example imap.comcast.net (port 993,SSL enabled)
- I changed my password on comcast to see if that helped the process. It did not.
- I tried on a different network, no luck
- I totally deactivated Norton Firewall when signing in...no luck
- Cleared the outlook cache. No luch
- removed and tried to re-establish the account. No change
I am at wits end and it has been extremely frustrating. Any ideas to help

Same situation with the same timing - Sunday 11/9 I lost all syncing abilities and have tried multiple methods to resync. This is not a User issue.

Hi, @user_8w49mk! Thanks for reaching out about getting your emails to come through. We appreciate how detailed you were in your message and for the steps you took troubleshooting. I have run into this with a few other customers. I checked our engineering issues and do not see this listed so have been troubleshooting and opening tickets to get our Advanced team involved. I know you changed your password but need to clarify, are you able to log in to the Xfinity email website without issue and see new emails that have come through?

Last night I deleted the account to try that approach once again and guess what - I can't recreate the account as the "Comcast server is currently unavailable." I went and created a Gmail account and have my Comcast emails being forwarded to it, so I have access to emails on my phone. As much as I hate the pain of change, I will likely make a full transfer to Gmail, which is probably what Comcast wants in the first place.

Same problem on 112/01/2025 will not connect with IMAP port 993. constant failures. Spent 5 days on this with no resolve. Could not even pay bill online. Total failure.
Stated a support ticket was issued. These emails are medical critical.. This is not a IPV4 or a IPV6 either Might just have to go to another provider. This is out of hand. Well they gave me a $5.00 credit on the bill. Means nothing. but every bit helps. Even tried the forwarder. Appears it wont even receive google verification.. If i didn't have to log in 20 plus times to get an email, something is really wrong.

I have been having the same issues on my Iphone and my Mac Air for a couple of week now. Emails will eventually load but they are several hours behind. iPhone is usually worse than the laptop.

The Problem is Comcast has switched over to hosting via Yahoo. So IMAP setting have to reconfigured to Yahoo's IMAP Servers. Also good luck if you are using Outlook on anything! Sadly Outlook "Classic" works fine with Yahoo IMAP servers but the "New Outlook" will not period. In the new outlook there is no way of selecting SPA "Secure Password Authentication" So you have to search and download Outlook "Classic" Setup your mail using SPA download your folders then you can switch to the "New" Outlook just fine. It took me three weeks for figure that out and a remote session with MS support who were worthless on the problem.
