Composing emails unexpectedly move into Drafts folder before completion

When composing emails, after a minute or two, they suddenly freeze and move into the Drafts folder. I then have to go into Drafts, and open them up there to finish composing and sending. Sometimes it even freezes again in Drafts, creating an additional copy in Drafts! Been happening for months now. Anybody help??

@XfinityMorgan Well, it worked for several days but not anymore :(

I bookmarked the link above so that's how I reach email. Once again, composing emails time out and go into drafts... sometimes after a minute or so, sometimes just after a few seconds.

Any more ideas?? Thanks.

Hello, @rshonkoff! How are you doing? I appreciate you reaching out here with concerns about your email. We can definitely work with you on this. Can you please tell me where it is that you access your email? Is it directly on https://comca.st/3s0XUV8 or by way of a third party email client? This will help us determine how to assist. Thanks!

Email address sent.

Additional info: When the email freezes, the following appears across the message area: "The mail draft could not be found on the server. It was sent or deleted in the meantime." That is when I find it sitting in my Drafts folder. If I don't complete a message fast enough, it times out again... and again.

To anyone else experiencing this problem, I just learned from speaking with someone in "Advanced Repair" that this has been a "known issue" for a few months now and they are still working on it.  Not a satisfactory answer but that's what they told me this morning.

@rshonkoff

Sounds like a [Edited: "Language"] answer to a question by someone who is ignorant of the matter.  The timing of the transfer to the drafts folder function is a simple coding matter that should be fixed very quickly.

The problem seems to go away and then repeat after a couple of days.  It appears that the compose mail application is timing out prematurely.  What is being done to resolve this widespread problem?
The system responds with ""The mail draft could not be found on the server. It was sent or deleted in the meantime."   What can I do to prevent the reoccurrence of the problem?

I too am having the exact same issue documented here. I spoke with several techs from xfinity via phone and they were not able to resolve the issue. They were not aware of the issue. It is extremely frustrating. As an unacceptable work-around I have resorted to composing longer emails in Word and copy and paste into comcast Compose email and hit send quickly - NOT ideal and NOT a long term work-around. Considering changing email providers at this point since the problem has been unresolved for months but what a hassle that will be.

I am having this issue on my 2 desktops both running Win10 and my wife's laptop running Win10.

I have been doing the same thing with using Word and quickly copying and sending. I was told by the techs that THEY WERE AWARE OF TJIS PROBLEM SINCE LAST FALL!!!  I too am prepared to abandon them as my email provider... and also not looking forward to all the hoops Ill be jumping through!!

Xfinity, if you're still monitoring this thread, this is pretty bad!!!!

@rshonkoff I wonder if comcast has bailed on this issue thinking they have resolved the issue with the link above that does NOT work? This must be isolated to a smaller population of comcast email users or we'd be seeing reports about this issue in much greater quantities. Perhaps a new thread is in order?

Same problem here and it has been going on since last fall. Now using gmail as much as possible. I finally reached a real person at Comcast on the phone a month ago and was told it was not a comcast issue. Has anyone actually had them fix the problem?

Fine. If it is not a comcast problem - who's problem is it and why are we all experiencing it? Seems like comcast should know and inform us of the culprit and how to fix it.

Out of frustration, a letter is being mailed today. An excerpt from a letter was mailed today is noted.  Hopefully, it will have some impact on having the problem resolved.

"

February 4, 2022

Chairman Brian L. Roberts

Comcast Corporation

Comcast Center

1701 JFK Boulevard

Philadelphia, PA 19103

Dear Mr. Roberts:

I am currently experiencing a problem when using your Infinity internet mail application that is

provided with my Comcast package that includes my TV and home phone.

While composing an email message, the mail application interprets the composer application and

moves the incomplete message to my drafts folder. In order to continue composing the message, I must

close the message window, open the drafts folder, open the incomplete message, click on the "edit"

button and attempt to complete and send the message before the problem reoccurs. Often times, I have

to repeat the process several times in order to complete the email message before I can finally send it.

I have reviewed your forum and discovered that other users are having the same problem. It appears to

me that the error is related to the programming section of your email application involved with the

timing and periodic saving of composer messages in the draft's folder is faulty. The application should

"save" messages to the draft folder on a given time schedule, but not disrupt the composer application

when doing so.

I have spent hours on the phone with your support staff and been instructed to log off of the mail

application and log on again. This process does not correct the problem. Information on the forum

from other users has stated that your staff is aware of the problem but is unable to resolve the issue.

The problem started occurring several months ago after an apparent new version of your email

application that was created to enhance your advertising options was installed. I have enclosed a copy

of the forum comments for your review.

I am writing to you because of the frustration that I am experiencing in having the matter resolved by

your support staff..........."

I wrote a letter of complaint to the Chairman of the Board and received a call from a support staff member.  In the letter, I explained in detail the problem and even suggested that it was a mail application coding problem.  I even attached copies of comments from this board showing that others were having the same problem with no help from board monitors.  She scheduled a Comcast service technician to check my equipment.  I had to schedule a time and date to be home for the technician visit.  The technician told me that the problem was a server problem and he did not address server problems.   All he did was confirm that the problem lies with the email application code that is miscoded which causes the problem.  So far nothing has been done to resolve the problem so it appears that even the Chairman of the Board does not care that his customers are experiencing these problems.  I suspect that most Xfinity users are using other email applications instead of the Comcast application.   It appears that attempts to have the problem resolved via this board are as useless as writing the Chairman.  Woe is me for using Xfinity for my internet and TV product supplier.  If my business was not dependent on my email address, I would switch to another provider.

Thanks for the help in trying to get the problem solved for all of us. And thank you for responding to my cry for help!  I am STILL trying to get my stupid email sent!  I have copied and pasted it, but it literally is down to like 20 seconds now before going to the Draft folder!  I am trying to do something nice for a widow and am being bit in the behind!  Thanks for not making me call.  My blood pressure is already through the roof.  Have a great Sunday.

I have been having the same issues and posted on this forum several times. I've been in touch via message with tech support and occasionally will receive a question but with no results. I read about the "server" issue above. Interesting. I'm not using xfinity/comcast as an ISP (Century Link) since comcast is not available at my new location. Comcast still allows me to still use my comcast email. We have this problem on 2 desktop computers and 1 laptop in my home. As with everyone else who is experiencing this problem my frustration level beyond frustrated. Interestingly, my 2 college kids who are away at different colleges do NOT have this issue! Keep making noise on this issue!

I sent a new letter today to the Chairman asking him to become personally involved in getting the matter resolved.  When using my friend's AT&T access to access my Comcast email account, I experience the same problem that I have when using Comcast email through the Xfinity web service that I use at home.  The problem is a server based problem caused by coding errors in the email application.  Technical support personnel are not able to address this issue.  The IT department programmers did the miscoding and only they can correct their mistake.

Please forward this issue to the CEO, COO and Board of Directors so that they know EXACTLY what is going on in this company and how and since LAST YEAR you have not been able to fix the simple service we PAY FOR….e-mail.  Or maybe I should contact my local media station?

I've continued to trade messages via the tech support messenger system to no avail. I inquired to the status of the repair ticket this morning and got this response:

"Good morning and thank you for reaching back out to our Digital Care Team this morning, we hope you had a wonderful weekend. I am now seeing that the ticket has been closed as resolved. Are you still experiencing issues with your email? If so, we are happy to reach out to our advanced repair team directly and have them reopen the ticket and investigate further. Rest assured we're going to do everything we can to get this fixed and appreciate your continued patience throughout this process."

The problem continues to exist - bumped off a compose email with the same error message after 4 min and 38 sec.

I am beyond frustrated with this level of incompetence. So disappointed. [Edited: "Language"]

@k3dne Update to this mornings message and post:

"Good afternoon We apologize for the mix up and wanted to provide you another update. Your individual ticket was recently closed but the master ticket that was opened to investigate the issue is still being worked. I reached out to our Tier 3 for an update and do not have anything new to share at this time. We'll keep checking in on the master ticket and provide you and new updates when we get them. Please let us know if you need anything in the meantime. -Raf

Typical run around provided by Comcast imaginary technical support staff!   Apparently, the issue is not important enough to them to have the problem resolved.
