Xfinity charging for INSP

I just received an email from INSP that Xfinity is going to charge $10 for INSP even though INSP doesn’t charge Xfinity for their programming. I don’t want that to happen. Why would Xfinity do that?

Finally this makes sense. I’ve been chatting with online troubleshooting for two days and they refused to answer the question “why aren’t I receiving the channels I’m paying for according to their website channel line-up”? All they wanted to do was up-sell. Despicable. Finally, I feel justified in cutting the cable. Thank you Comcast for giving me the push I needed.

Moving INSP and charging $10 a month for a channel I have been receiving for years included in my package is ridiculous.  This is not INSP initiated, This is all XFINITY.  I truly have enjoyed this service for many years,  BUT I am considering other options now.  I pay way too much money to have to ad an addtl $10, for a channel I love.   It is hard to believe that this is a business move, [Edited: "Inflammatory"]

So my first comment was deleted. I’m thinking Xfinity needs to rethink their removal of INSP. from our basic pkg. we agreed to pay your super high charges with that channel on there! You have broken your contract with us. I hope your $10 bucks a month is worth all the long time loyal customers you will lose [Edited: "Inflammatory"]

Hello @user_f44584, thank you for reaching out to char eyour feedback reguarding INSP.

We regularly review our channel lineups and sometimes make changes to ensure we're offering a wide variety of content at the best value. As part of those regular reviews, we made the decision to move INSP to the More Sports & Entertainment Package. Every month, Comcast pays programmers like networks, local TV station owners and others for the ability to bring their programming to you. The cost of programming generally continues to rise — in fact, our programming costs have more than doubled since 2006 — which can affect your bill.

We absorb a large portion of these cost increases and are doing our best to manage them while still giving you the best value we can. While this change won’t cause the prices to go down on existing packages, it will help limit future increases in your bill.

It was moved to another package--there should have been a notice on your statement.

At the bottom of this page, INSP has some other options to consider:

We regularly evaluate our channel lineups and sometimes make changes to ensure we're offering a wide variety of content at the best value. As part of those regular reviews, we decided to move INSP to these packages on September 26. Customers were notified of this change with bill messages starting July 27, 2023.

The good news is that you can still watch similar programming without changing your TV package. By saying “Westerns” into your Xfinity Voice Remote or searching for “Westerns” On Demand, you can find a wide variety of content at your fingertips.

If you want to keep INSP, you can get the More Sports & Entertainment Package by:

Saying, "More sports and entertainment," into your Xfinity Voice Remote.
Logging in to xfinity.com and selecting Shop deals and more.
Selecting Chat for TV & Streaming help (from the Services tab in the Xfinity app) and typing, "add a channel" for assistance.
Calling us at 1-800-XFINITY.

This didn't work for me, so you probably need to contact Xfinity directly, but try: https://www.xfinity.com/digital/offers/plan-builder

to see if that channel comes up on the search. Good luck.

Shame on you.  Westerns and sports are not the same.

I am very upset that Xfinity has deleted INSP from my package. It was the station that I watch every day and night. Please, please put it back. We shouldn’t have to pay for old black and white tv shows. If it’s not returned to my package, it may be time for me to look elsewhere for cable or streaming services.

Our monthly bill keeps going up & channels removed.  Not happy at all with Xfinity.

I also am upset that it was moved from my package so soon after we switched to X1 to "get it back."

I have to agree with many other customers,,,, now... Here's my issue with them taking away insp channel.  A year ago I agreed to a 2 year contract in order to get the best price for the channels I wanted.   Now... Xfinity took insp channel away.  In  my eyes they broke the contract that I agreed to pay for.   But if I decide to cancel my contact with them before my 2 years is up.  I get charged an early termination fee,,, please Xfinity do explain. Contract only works when it's for your convenience

I’m really disappointed in Xfinity’s decision to remove INSP from channel lineup! I’ve been a customer of Xfinity for many years, but I am now looking for alternatives. I will begin streaming, and it will not be from Xfinity. Xfinity made this choice for their profit! Don’t be fooled by Xfinity‘s lame excuses! There is no excuse! Sad, disappointed!

I already pay close to $200/month for TV. Comcast wants another $49.95 to allow me to get INSP again. I'd never watch the PAC 12 or any of the other sports channels in the package. BOO! $49.95towatch old westerns. They took away one of the other 2 channels that used to show them. My channel 160 went from free to STARZ a few years ago, which also would cost more.

We are so disappointed with Xfinity for many reasons. This being one of them. Our monthly bill is already outrageously high, now they want another $10.00 per month for a channel that shows reruns? I don't understand.

Xfinity is so disappointing. Their prices are extremely high and now to take away the INSP channel. The INSP channel gets a lot of customers that are elderly and they will not be able to afford another price increase. This was such a mistake by Xfinity. Loyal and long term customers get nothing from this service. All we get is less channels and increased prices.

@billmich88888 It is not a great value if you would only watch the one channel as I and many others would. It's total rip off and it's happened before.

What I read was $49.95 for the package.  Channel 160 in my area was changed from free to paid to view under Starzencore a few years ago. That was the only other channel with westerns. NO VALUE at all.

If it is low viewership why move it?

Why move INSP? To sports? No sense at all. This channel is a favorite for the older generation,  who are more than likely on a fixed income and are less likely to be able to afford another package. Xfinity should be working to keep their customers happy! There are a lot of good alternatives out there.

Yes, I know! So disappointed in Xfinity. We are retired and on a fixed income, so adding another program package is not likely for us.

I never have complained about your service, but this time you pushed to far, it may be small, but it’s the straw that broke the camels back. You took INSP out of the lineup I am already paying for. Totally disappointing and unacceptable. I will not pay more for a package that includes it. If you take high viewership channels we are already paying for out of lineup, and put in packages that cost more, pretty soon our current package will be junk and won’t have a reason to continue buying your service. I will not pay more for something I was already paying for and don’t need any of the other things in the new bundle, just what I had. Please put it back where it was. At least grandfather it for those that had it.

That is soooo sweet you are worried about my ‘data cap’. How long have you worked for xfinity dude? Paramount + is awesome. I get great shows including Gunsmoke duder. Totally awesome!!!

You don’t work for xfinity but you are commenting on their comments section supporting their ‘business decisions’. Interesting. This decision is driven by ‘X greed’. They don’t want to support a channel that reaches 70 plus year olds unless it makes up for the little advertising it generates. But luckily we have other options.
