Thursday night football on Amazon Prime Video

For the upcoming NFL season, Amazon Prime Video is the exclusive home of Thursday Night Football. Thursday night NFL games are available at no additional cost to Prime members and include pre- and post-game shows. In-market games will be available on local channels. Out-of-market games are exclusively available on Amazon Prime Video and won’t be broadcast on any local channel, regional sports network or on the NFL Network.

Additional information about Thursday night football on Amazon Prime Video can be found here: https://www.amazon.com/b?ie=UTF8&node=21436610011https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=GNF8H853SMHNED6Z

We apologize for the frustration you are experiencing. The decision to move Thursday night football to Amazon Prime Video was an agreement between the NFL and Amazon Prime Video, Comcast was not involved. We recommend reaching out to one of those entities directly to share your feedback about this change.

I also thought it was exclusive, but yet the game is also listed on my local NBC station here in the Chicago area.

Very happy with that, since I can now record the game and skip through all the commercials and delays.

Edit... Now I know why...Prime video doesn't start with NFL football  until 9-15.     Still hate exclusive streaming

for both Baseball, Football, and any other sport they do this to, because you can't record it.

Thank you for sharing your feedback here in our Xfinity Forum. With Thursday night football on Amazon Prime, you can watch, record or start games from the beginning of the broadcast.

Please note, other features will be available while watching these games in the Prime Video app, including:

  • Alternate broadcast feeds, including Spanish and National streams.
  • Real-time stats and replays.
  • The ability to record the entire season with a click of the button.
  • In-player carousel so you can seamlessly switch between the broadcast feeds.

We hope that addresses your concerns. Please let us know if you have any other questions or comments.

Hi,

I logged into the Xfinity Prime Video app and saw and set the record function for Thursday Night Football.

Do you know where the recording will show up? Will it be on my DVR or do I have to log into

the App?

Thanks

You will need to access the Amazon app again to watch any of the Thursday night football recordings.

Whose idea was it to force us to pay more money for another streaming app to watch Thursday night football? That is absolutely ridiculous!

Streaming through Xfinity cable box was very poor last night. I received a message indicating the Xfinity box was not configured properly for the Live Stream. How do you configure it to be optimal? Also when watching the game it kept buffering, so I could hear the commentary fine but the picture was frozen and I am paying for the highest speed internet service Xfinity offers. This needs to improve.

@user_46134b It took me about a half hour to figure out what to do...I tried to watch it on the Amazon DVR player.  The picture didn't look so great and to try

to skip through commercials or the 30 seconds between plays was very difficult and clumsy.  What I did finally was access Amazon Prime through my Apple TV

and immediately saw the picture was much better and my Apple TV remote worked flawlessly FF or simply advancing 10 seconds at a time .

Any time you experience streaming issues on your X1/Flex television boxes, we recommend performing a device reset. To perform a device reset, you will need to unplug the equipment from the power outlet, wait at least 1 minute, then plug it back in. If you continue to experience issues after a device reset, please let us know and we can help with further troubleshooting.

I recorded the game last night to time shift it to later in the night. When I tried to start the recording through Prime on X1 it asked - Live or Start from Beginning. I chose "Start from Beginning" but it just went to the live broadcast. I tried to Rewind but that didn't work. I Paused for a few minutes and when I hit Play it skipped to live again. I did all this during the pregame portion since I didn't trust the technology the first time using it and didn't want to miss the actual game.

After that I accessed Prime through my SONY smart TV. Everything worked as I would expect. I was able to FF to the start of the game, Pause and continue. Basically everything you would expect from a recording. Also the picture seemed better.

Why did Prime through X1 not support the DVR features on the broadcast? What can I expect for future games?

@flash333 FYI, if you can wait until at least early morning and avoid seeing the score, the NFL network rebroadcasts the game a little after 11 PM Central on Thursday nights.

With the 30 second skip you can easily get through the game in less than an hour, if so desired.

How sad that you put Thursday Night Football out of reach for the poor people who can almost afford the regular cable bill,  to have to pay more for what should be free since you took Thursday Night football away from us.  Did we get a vote?   I think NOT!!!  Maybe since we lost a program you should give us a credit on our bill for the channel it used to be on.

Comcast had nothing to do with it.  This was an agreement between the NFL and Amazon Prime.  You can always get an Amazon Firestick and pay for the basic subscription, which is what I do [$16.00+ p/m].  You would then have access to those Thursday night games as well as a ton of movies and Amazon original shows.  And, with my Firestick I can also get other free apps like Tubi and PlutoTV and IMDB's new free movies app.  There are lots of options with a Firestick.  Yes, it's more money out of your pocket but the additions are worth it.

Just passing along info.

Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding Thursday night football on Amazon Prime Video. As mentioned previously in this thread, the decision to move NFL games Thursday night games to Amazon Prime Video was decided by the NFL and Amazon, Comcast was not involved with that decision-making process. If you have concerns about this decision, we recommend you share them with the NFL and/or Amazon directly.

@user_fce273 I think that's intentional, and not something that Comcast can fix. There may be a way around this, but I don't know if it works with watching it through Comcast. Apparently, you need to go to the Prime Video website and select the game in question from the Sports / NFL section; this will "record" the game for you, which should allow you to watch the whole thing from the beginning after it starts. I say "should" because I am not certain about this.
