Paramount Plus with Showtime

I was informed via chat that I have access to Paramount Plus. However, I already pay a lot for Xfinity, and if this issue isn’t resolved, it may be a deal breaker for me. Other options are simply more reasonable.

I would like clear and accurate information. During the chat, I was instructed to visit the website paramountplus.com/activation, select "Connect Provider," enter the code displayed on my TV, and then choose Xfinity. However, I don't see Xfinity listed as an option.

I am confused and feel like I’m being given the runaround. Is Xfinity actually a connected provider? If so, please provide the correct information. If not, please let me know. Thank you.

Greetings, @R_deane! I hope your week has been treating you well. Thanks so much for taking a moment out of your busy day to leave a post on our community forum about your Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscription. You have definitely come to the right place for assistance.

I apologize for any confusion that may have occurred because of the similar naming conventions, but there is a difference between Paramount+ with SHOWTIME (https://www.paramountpluswithshowtime.com) and the Paramount+ app (https://www.paramountplus.com).

Paramount+ with SHOWTIME is a premium subscription channel offering access to award-winning original series, movies, documentaries, sports, and more, all commercial-free and live or on demand. It includes the full SHOWTIME On Demand library and eight live linear channels. On the other hand, the Paramount+ app is available to Xfinity X1, Xumo Stream Box, and Xfinity Flex customers, providing access to network shows, movies, original series, and live local CBS stations with sports and entertainment. Paramount+ app offers subscription plans with limited or no commercials.

If you are subscribed to Paramount+ with SHOWTIME through Xfinity, your content will be available through your X1 cable box or the Xfinity Stream app, but not through the Paramount+ app. The Paramount+ app requires a separate subscription. There are plans available through Paramount+ that include both services, but the Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscription through Xfinity is a standalone service.

@XfinityJamesC This has not made it any clearer.  Please provide specific directions as to how I am supposed to access Paramount+.  Are there specific channels in the guide for Paramount+?  I haven't seen any.  Just like netflix, I am talking to my remote and that is where I can not access the Paramount+.  Quite frankly, it is very confusing.  Just for a note, it is part of the plan I pay for

Thank you for clarifying, @R_deane! You should be able to pull up the Paramount+ app by asking for it through the remote, like you mentioned. If your box does not have the app installed, we can definitely help with that.

If you could send our team a direct message with your full name, the name listed on the account (if different), and the service address associated with your account, I'd be more than happy to look into this for you.

To send a Direct Message, please click on the “Direct Message” icon in the top-right corner of the screen, next to the bell icon, click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon, then type or select "Xfinity Support". Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window and press Enter to send your message and initiate a live session.

@XfinityJamesC

maybe you explain this to me.  I pay for Showtime through my Xfinity X1 package. This allows me to watch Paramount Plus with Showtime thru my Xfinity app.  I also pay for the mid tier (commercial free) Paramount Plus package thru Paramount. So, why is it when I watch a show on Showtime thru the Xfinity app (Paramount Plus with Showtime) does it only allow me to watch the SD picture and not the HD picture?  This entire issue makes no sense!

The answer is no. Paramount renamed the Showtime Cable Networks to Paramount+ with Showtime. Super confusion, but in no way does having a cable subscription to Showtime give you access to Paramount+ streaming app.

It's probably the worst rename of a cable network in the history of renaming cable networks. It has nothing to do with Xfinity and has confused everyone.

If you want the Paramount + streaming service you need to pay them directly for a subscription.

user_dbnzia Currently, access to the Paramount+ app is not part of the Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscription with Xfinity. At this time, we don't have any confirmed indication this will be changing.
