Loud Xfinity Commerical
Can anyone there do anything about the extra loud XFINITY Commerical that is playing several times an hour? It is really annoying and really makes me want to go back on an antenna or some other service after all these years as a COMCAST customer. PLEASE!

commercials like any prerecorded content has all elements of the audio track 'set' and delivered unchanged to your home. The processing is done at the production studio that creates the video. Comcast does not have any ability to adjust audio/video/color/tint etc for digital television streams.

So you're saying that Comcast/Xfinity is producing the commercials with excessively loud audio? Or is allowing a subcontractor to do so? And that the "ATSC A/85 RP" equipment they are required to use doesn't work? See https://www.fcc.gov/media/policy/loud-commercials.
You continue to ignore the fact that cable systems have responsibilities under the CALM act.

hi, The digital ATSC mpeg programming is produced by a studio and is delivered unchanged (other than transcoding) to the 'sink' (the device displaying the video and audio). Cable providers in the digital age do nothing other than transport the data streams of video/audio, the reporting to the FCC is in data aggregate where they then look for trends/patterns of complaints. Technical analysis usually shows the perceived difference is actually due to the audio 'compression' used in commercials where their peaks may be in the normal range but they have much more audio content than a scripted drama. The FCC would have to contact a network's engineering department to research. A cable provider only carries what the network feeds to it. No one at Comcast is looking at video or signal levels unless working on a reported problem (for example channel WTESThd has no audio stream).

Several times an hour this commerical comes on and just about blast you out of the room. It is quite a bit higher in decibels than the programs and commericals being watched. It is more than just annoying, it makes everyone go scrambling for the remote to turn the volume down, and then as soon as the commerical has run you have to turn the volume back up again. Forget dozing in front of the TV, its a wast of time.

You've missed the point again -- twice:
See https://www.law.cornell.edu/cfr/text/47/76.607. Also:
The algorithms referenced in ATSC A/85 RP (ITU-R BS.1770) take this into account. They'd be useless if they didn't.

the network programming providers create the streams and delivers to Comcast. It isn't an employee or a contractor hired by Comcast.

It would be very odd if "network programming providers" created Comcast commercials, made them too loud, and ran them that way, unbeknownst to Comcast. Are you going really going to continue to assert that Comcast has no responsibility for improprieties in the commercials run upon its instruction and for its benefit?

Could not agree more. For the rest of my life I will forever hate xfinity due to these obnoxious commercials. It’s unreal- and I have been a customer for a decade. No more. I’m done. Worst mind numbing commercials ever. Three times an hour. Terrible. Terrible. Worst company ever
