ESPN constantly glitching

For many weeks now, I have been having an issue watching ESPN.

The screen continually glitches and starts to get pixelated and pauses.  This interruption happens over and over and over again. It is happening ONLY on ESPN.  Our signal is fine otherwise; all other channels do not have this issue.

Can someone please let me know if this is a known issue or not? Is something being done about it? I am not receiving the service I am paying for.

Hello, @user_t5qnju. We appreciate you reaching our team regarding the ESPN concerns, I definitely understand how frustrating can be to experience pixelation issues. Are there any troubleshooting steps you've attempted and is this happening on multiple devices or only one?

Hi there...we have unplugged and replugged all cords from the box. We have also restarted the box. None of these had any impact. It is only happening on the primary device. Thank you.

user_t5qnju Yes please do. When you send a private message before being asked to most of the time it is not received since we do not have a message from us to attach it to a post.  Please make sure to provide your name the name of the account owner if different and your full-service address including any apartment or unit numbers, the City, State, and zip code so we can better assist.

Please note that sending unsolicited private messages to myself or any other user is a direct violation of our forum guidelines. Per those guidelines, continued violations could be subject to a revocation of your Xfinity Forum privileges. We never want to get to that point with any user, so we recommend reviewing those guidelines thoroughly. You must first create a Public post requesting assistance, and once a Comcast verified employee responds and asks for a private message to be sent, you can then proceed with doing so.

Still garbled and pixelated non stop on all ESPN channels. Doesn't matter which cable box we are using. I'm getting close to canceling Comcast and moving to Verizon

Sportsnet Pittsburgh (CH 843), ESPNHD (CH 850) and ESPN2HD (CH 851) extremely pixelated, or have error message saying that there is a problem that is being worked on. This has been going on for about a week and has happened in the past at random times. Usually during hockey/football season when I use it the most.

I have been having the same problems on both ESPN on Formula 1 weekends (such as this weekend in Vegas) and USA which also hosts racing.

It's interesting to see that this largely has happened during Qualifying and Race events.

The VERY INTERESTING thing is that is if I record the session, the recording is just fine.  I just have to watch it after the live event happens.   Now today 11/24/2024 at 00:00 am, the signal looks like 90s scrambled adult films.   26 hours ago during Formula 1 free practice 3, I had no problems. They started just after that.

This has only happened within the last 4-5 months.  On ONLY these two channels.

I'm in Pittsburgh.   823/850 are USA / ESPN channels.

I have gotten no response.   Considering these are the only things worth watching on cable,,, why bother not moving?

I've had two technicians out in the last year if that's your goto move.

Hey there, @user_gskrjw. What troubleshooting steps have you performed from your end? Are you noticing the issue on both the X1 cable box and the Xfinity Stream app?

Xfinity,

Instead of asking users to waste their time troubleshooting this issue why doesnt Xfinity troubleshoot thier network ?  Getting sick of experiencing this problem. It's been happening for couple months now for me most recently all day yesterday during the ESPN / ABC college football games. To me it apprears to be a bandwidth problem as it only occurs during heavily watched games. Anyway getting real close to dropping this service as sending technicians out to my house is futile "signals are good."

@user_6ouyig Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us here on our Xfinity Forums. I definitely understand where you are coming from. When we work with our customers to troubleshoot concerns, such as the one with ESPN, it allows us to get tickets opened. When we open the tickets it provides examples of the issue occurring to our engineer teams that can work to find a resolution. The best time to troubleshoot is ideally when the issue is occurring. Can you tell me what type of troubleshooting steps you've taken and if this is happening on all boxes or just one?

I've taken ALL the steps Xfinity has on their "troubleshooting" sheet several times. Tech has been out twice. Anyway all a waste of time. Why does Xfinity think this issue is on the user end ? It's ONE Channel (ESPN) and its at peak times for me. It's against my main Box and I'm not willing to watch / troubleshoot in another room because I believe the issue is before my house. Xfinity needs to come clean regarding this problem with ESPN buffering / glitching as there are several chats out there on social media regarding this specific issue. I know Xfinity is so sorry but customers need better service or they will find it elsewhere. Thanks anyway at this point there is nothing Xfinity can do to help my situation.

Thank you for reaching out to us @user_6fx73e! We’d love to take a further look! Have you noticed if this issue happens during commercial breaks on this channel? Does it happen during all programs or only live events?

We continually have buffering and/or pixilating while attempting to watch ESPN. Monday Night Football is no longer watchable.

This needs to be fixed on Xfinity's end!

Hello user_8nr7u7 is this issue happening when watching the ESPN family of channels, or while using ESPN+? And is this constant or only during the MNF broadcast?

Constant glitching and buffering while watching ESPN.  This has been happening for several months.  Xfinity needs to fix this issue. Sports are unwatchable!
