Big 10 Network - Xfinity not carrying all live broadcasts?

We just paid to add the Big 10 Network to our plan. There is a local commercial running here that states that Xfinity is the only provider to not accept the Big 10 expansion offer and will therefore will not be providing all live games that are on the network. The Xfinity guide tonight showed that the Oregon State vs UW soccer game was on - but it wasn’t so this appears to be accurate. This is false advertising - I can’t believe a company is allowed to do this.  Go to  allbtngames.com  and see if you have coverage. We paid and we don’t get it? Will this be changed?

Same here! My niece and a good friend who lives in TX both are using you tube tv which has all the conference networks in the base package which is cheaper anyway and has everything we ever look at. Starting my trial...

@marc-pdx How as YouTube worked out for you?  Apparently XFinity has decided that the concerns of the fans of those four schools are trivial compared to what they stand to lose from signing a contract with Big10 and we, fans, are pawns in a contest between corporate behemoths. Our universities have little interest in protecting our viewing rights, though I contribute money to the academic goals of UCLA and USC.

Yes this story is getting worse for Xfinity. For the 4 new Big Ten schools you can get the Big Ten Network by paying $10 more a month but the live games featuring those new schools may be blacked out. Xfinity is the only provider not adding the Big Ten to the basic cable packages for these new schools. This is the Big Ten Network statement.

The Big Ten Network is proud to present an expanded slate of live sporting events featuring the newest members of the B1G conference, however, most Comcast subscribers will not see these games. As the one distribution partner that declined to expand along with us, Comcast Xfinity viewers in many areas will not have access to live broadcasts of the highly anticipated inaugural B1G season games for Oregon, UCLA, USC and Washington.

If you are an Xfinity subscriber and cannot find the Ducks, Huskies, Bruins or Trojans on the Big Ten Network in your area, please contact 1-800-Comcast or go to ALLBTNGAMES.com.

GRBU2, Thanks for reaching out. I know that it is upsetting to lose a channel that you like as a sports fan myself. We regularly evaluate our XFINITY TV to ensure it includes the best combination of programming options to appeal to our customers. To help make things easier, here is a great link to more details on channel availability. Please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns. We are happy to help.

What a hog wash response but I would expect nothing less from Comcast. We have paid $10 for the More Sports package that includes the Big Ten network and you are still going to blackout the channel on Saturday for the Oregon and Washington games. Can we expect a refund of our $10. Of course not. This Comcast who doesn't care about their customers.

1 Message

@XfinityGabriel I agree 100% with seattle4sports. We did the same (paid an extra $10 a month for the More Sports package) but even then, we can't watch the UW Huskies. Total hogwash about "appealing to customers". We are willing to pay extra, but even then we can't watch. Something else is up that Xfinity and BIG10 Networks aren't telling us.

@seattle4sports If you stay with comcast and only have the sports add-on service for the Big10 Network, I'd recommend [Edited: "Solicitation"] until they resolve this (if they ever do... remember, Directv did not resolve this kind of thing with the Pac12 Network). [Edited: "Solicitation"]. [Edited: "Solicitation"] if they ever start broadcasting those games.

@seattle4sports

They sold us on that bait and switch deal too. Will not stay with Xfinity and Comcast.  Had been looking for a reason to quit this company.  Took me 3 hrs yesterday trying to figure this out to wind up with oh we’re not carrying.  We have to uphold the letter of the contract to them otherwise we have penalties. But apparently they don’t .  How can that be?

I agree 100%. It's taking money under false pretenses.  I pay a ton of $$$ for my tv package and I want them to get this resolved ASAP.  This makes it easier and easier to justify cutting the Comcast cord.  I bet that's not what they want ... or maybe they don't care.

I don't think they care that much. This group of people is pretty tiny compared to their entire customer base.

I totally agree, comcast lies & misleads. They make it impossible to contact them. No email or text that I can find. I used thier support Chat, even tho I know it's not meant for that.
The support agent offered me some comps for missing the games. When I told him I just wanted to register my disapproval, he directed me to thier loyalty line to Disconnect my service!

Crooks, liars & thieves. Been with them 20+ years and I think I'm done.

@jimandlaurie Thank you for your feedback and understanding that we do not have the rights, currently, to broadcast games airing on Big 10 Network for the following teams:
University of California Los Angeles (UCLA)
University of Oregon (U of O)
University of Washington (UW)
University of Southern California (USC)

Most of the games for these universities may be available on other channels, networks, or streaming platforms.

Say “UCLA football” (or something similar) into their Xfinity Voice Remote .
Use the C button on their Xfinity Voice Remote  to launch the X1 Sports app.
Use the on-screen guide to find affected games that may be available on other channels.
Note: the on-screen guide may not be up-to-date, reflecting the wrong program information according to what is actually playing.

Here is another way to view some teams mentioned above https://btn.com/promo/btn2go-is-now-btn-so-what-does-this-mean/

Hey Peter, that was a pointless post. We KNOW comcast refuses to pay for the rights to broadcast these teams. We are angry because as comcast customers we pay to see them!

I guess there's one thing Ducks  and Huskies can agree on: Xfinity [Edited: Language]!  As soon as my promotions are over, I'm switching to Youtube.

Hi there @ShowMeThehuskies,

I understand your frustration. It’s definitely frustrating when you can’t access the content you’re paying for. I’ll pass your feedback along to the team, and in the meantime, if there’s anything specific I can do to help or if you have other concerns, please let me know.

So you were going to our feedback along to the team which means it will go into one ear and out the other. At least your response was better then the ones from the other representatives who gives us the standard response that Comcast cares about its customers. Right and if you believe that there is a piece of ocean property in Nebraska I want to sell you.

I have paid comcast xfinity 30k over 20yrs and I cannot watch my local UW Huskies football..... looking at direct tv or fubo now...

I just ditched Xfinity and went to YouTube.  I'm so sick and tired of Xfinity and the nonsense that took Portland TrailBlazers off their programing and now the west coast former Pac 12 teams.

There's something we Ducks and Dawgs can agree on.

Thanks Angie for reposting the obvious. We KNOW comcast is refusing to pay for the rights to broadcast these games. We are angry because as comcast customers we pay more money to comcast than other services because tradionally all these games have been available. It's sad that comcast has decided to skimp on sports offerings. I'm researching which service to switch to, after 30+ years of being a customer.

As programming costs rise, we sometimes have to make difficult decisions about what we're able to offer without substantially increasing costs. It's important to remember that sometimes sports can be subject to blackout restrictions. I have seen in the past there have been some agreements made at either the last minute or mid-season, but there are also times when the cost is just too much to impose onto our customers as well. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day and please let us know if there is anything that we can be of assistance with.

directv costs $130 a month and I don’t get all the locals that comcast offers; however, I can watch all my channels remotely unlike like comcast which blocks certain channels when I’m not at home.

If this isn’t resolved by UW game time, I will remove Ultimate+ from my Comcast service and shift to either Fubo or YouTube TV. I’ve been loyal to Comcast for 24 years. Loyalty is a two-way street, however.

I just discovered this too when I want to watch the football game that the guide lists on this network. I added the sports add on to be able to watch the game it’s a rip off.

This is ridiculous Xfinity. Our subscription costs have not declined over time so for you to not step up and get this licensing deal done to keep up with the shifting landscape of college athletics shows zero commitment to your customers. I will be looking at my alternatives and leaving you for good.

Xfinity you [Edited: Language]. Your negotiation skills [Edited: Language]. Your customer service [Edited: Language]. Your pricing [Edited: Language]. You outsource your customer service to a very polite, yet unskilled team of overseas call center employees. With all the money you charge for non-purchasable rental equipment, tv packages, and internet, and with the monopoly you have, how [Edited: Language] are you not swimming in cash? Give us our Big  10 expansion team games.

So basically you're telling us to get service elsewhere because Xfinity won't pay for rights to the West Coast Big 10 games? Does that mean we get out of our contracts?

Fix this issue or refund everyone in the northwest that has this package.  My issue is if you were not going to show the game why show it on the channel guide as if you were?  You falsely led thousands l of people to believe that they were going to be able to view this.

I imagine they'll eventually move Big10 network to the Ultimate tier in those markets like they did with Root Sports

@Tater222 - that's part of the problem; I think whoever owns the channel wants it added to the Popular tier, at least in Washington, Oregon, and California, since this may be the agreement it has with Xfinity for states with the other Big Ten schools. One problem with this; the two California schools in the Big Ten are in an area Xfinity doesn't serve (Spectrum is the main cable service there), and Xfinity may not want to have to pay for everybody else in California to have it on the Popular tier if they can't watch Cal or Stanford, which are in the ACC.

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the Big Ten Channel. I purchased the channel for my husband, who is a fan of the Ducks, Washington, and Idaho. However, after ordering the channel, I discovered that he will not be able to watch any of those teams' games on it. I believe that if you are going to advertise the Big Ten Channel , you should have a notice on the order page informing customers that not all games will be available. I am very disappointed and Iam going  to have the channel turned off.

1 Message

Agreed! It feels like a bait-and-switch.

Comcast must refund the $9.99 monthly fee for the “More Sports & Entertainment” package which is the only way to get the Big Ten Network (“BIG” channel) and several another not so interesting channels. This blackout without due warning when Comcast sold the package is beyond disappointing for this customer who’s been with Comcast in Eugene, OR since 1979.

@user_mwaq6m It's NOT the BIG10 channel... IT"S COMCAST that has blacked out the games !
