Welcome to the new Xfinity Forum

We are excited to announce that in March 2021, after more than a year of diligent work, the Xfinity Forum updated platforms. The Xfinity Forum was always intended to be a place where our customers can participate in a thriving peer-to-peer community and, if needed, receive assistance from employees. This update will help us to better realize those goals.

We have worked hard to ensure that most forum functionality remains mostly unchanged. You will still be able to author posts, reply, and send/receive private messages. For a full list of feature updates, see here. We would like to call out that the major platform changes include:

  • Authoring a post – The look of the page when authoring a new post or reply has changed but you will still be able to have the same features and functionality as before. The major change to note is that you will be able to choose what forum Category/Service and topic where you would like your post to live in the forum.

*Please remember that your “macro”/”canned messages” will still be set up and managed from your forum profile settings.

Before:

After:

ComcastJessie_1-1614290531614.png

  • Replying to a thread – You will still be able to reply to any open post, however instead of being redirected to an “author a post” page, you will be able to reply to a post in-line the thread itself. This change should make replying much easier for anyone wanting to participate here.

Before:

After:

ComcastJessie_3-1614290531623.png

  • Identifying a Solved thread – You will notice that when you see threads in list format a thread that has a marked Solution, it will look a little different

Before:

ComcastJessie_4-1614290531627.png

After:

ComcastJessie_5-1614290531629.png

  • User profile page – When viewing your own or another user’s profile page, you will notice few differences but all the information there will remain the same. The major change is you will find it much easier to message another user and follow users you are most interested in.

Before:

ComcastJessie_6-1614290531643.png

After:

ComcastJessie_7-1614290531653.png

  • Private Messaging - In the past each private message was seperate. Now, you will notice your private messages thread together similar to a text message chain. This should make it very easy to see the entire history of private messages between you and another user. Private messages with any user are easy to initate by clicking the "message" icon ComcastJessie_1-1614291072817.png .

*Note*: You will also notice an easy way to deny any private messages or accept if you want to engage directly with that user.

After:

Yeah, the thread titles going from blue to grey when read is definitely not working consistently. I've read several this morning and they're all still blue. Most of the ones I read yesterday are showing up as grey, but a few are still showing as blue even though there are no new posts in them.

That header at the top of the page really does need to be shrunk down... There's no need for it to be that big.

... do I have to click on 'follow' to continue to get these email notifications or to start getting notifications on new threads I get involved in?

Check your Notifications under your Profile Settings. "Follow" appears to work as "Subscribe" did in the previous forum software.

I haven't received a single email notification since the changeover, even though all the 'Email' boxes are checked in my profile notifications sections. I should have received several just from this thread.

Are they in your Xfinity Connect Spam folder?

Are they in your Xfinity Connect Spam folder?

I don't know what that is. I use Outlook on a PC to manage my Comcast emails. The junk e-mail folder in that is empty.

I don't know what that is ...

Log in to https://connect.xfinity.com/ in a web browser and check the Spam folder. If Outlook is using POP, consider switching to IMAP so that you'll be able to see all of the webmail folders in Outlook. Also, if you prefer to have Outlook to handle spam, consider changing the Connect spam pref (gear icon / Email Settings / Mail /  Advanced / Spam Filtering / Override Security Filters).

@BruceW  I logged into connect.xfinity.com and all the notifications from yesterday and today are in the spam folder there. Thanks for the info.

But what I don't understand, and have a problem with doing, is why should I have to change anything in my email setups in order to get these notifications? Why isn't it working like before? I haven't had to do anything like this with any other forum I use. Seems to me that something is broke on Comcast's side of things, especially since this problem arose only after they changed their software.  Seems like it should be up to them to fix whatever's broke on their end.

OK... I'm done venting now.

Thanks again @BruceW for the help.

Update:

FYI, there where no other emails in the spam folder, just these notifications.

@BruceW, I hope you don't think my vent was directed at you. It was not.

@ComcastJessie My default view/filter when I access the Forum is Searching and sorted by 'Most Recent' (Search | Xfinity Community Forum).  ALL posts show up as GRAY with NONE showing BLUE.  Shouldn't those UNREAD be BLUE?  I'm using HP Windows 10 desktop and MS Edge browser.   I want to see all NEW threads/posts across all sub-forums but this access method I use, DOES NOT show ALL new posts.  I went to the Home page and selected one of the sub-forums and there are MANY new posts (BLUE) that do NOT show up in the Search function.  How do we see ALL NEW posts across ALL sub-forums using SEARCH?

I am using Firefox browser and when reading the posted comments the fonts that I see are blurry and bold.

Typing in the Response box shows a crisp font that is readable.

What is the default font supposed to be?

Hey it could be my eyes too.

Am I missing something on the new forum layout? In the past the threads used to be default with the newest posts first in the sub-forum feed for lack of a better term.

Now it seems they are in random order.

I will be honest I haven't checked out if it by response date or something else.

I have used Safari, Firefox and Edge and no difference.

When I look at the sub-forum feeds, the threads are ordered by most recent comment/post first and older in order.

Update:  Actually it's the sub-sub-forum feeds that appear to be random and not ordered, eg Forums>TV>Channels and Programming.  I guess a matter of perspective whether sub-forum or sub-sub-forum.  I look at the Community Forum as the top level and sub-forums being Internet, TV, etc.  Sub-sub-forums being those within Internet, TV, etc.  I see exactly what you're seeing @commanguy

And looking closer:  They are ordered by most recent comment as identified in the label:

Another issue is that it does not seem to remember which is the last post in a thread I read. It always starts at the first. Not fun when there are multiple pages.

Also, it would be nice to disable notifications per-thread (the old subscribe/unsubscribe in the Khoros software). There only appears to be global settings.

... it would be nice to disable notifications per-thread ...

Clicking "Unfollow" on a thread's OP appears to do that (I think).

Does anyone see how to insert a macro ("Text Canned Responses") in this editor? I can define these in my profile, but I see no way to reference them. There's an "Insert image" tool for pics, but nothing for text.

I have seen the All Activity section. Haven’t played around with this new layout enough and all the new stuff. But it seems clunkier than the last iteration of the forums to me. Not as useful in my personal opinion.
