iPhone 11 preorder question

Hi everyone,
With the new iPhone preorders right around the corner, I had a question for Xfinity or any other Xfinity Mobile user that has done this in the past. Our two lines have been due for upgrades for a few months now, but we’ve been holding out for the new iPhones. My question is: will we be able to preorder Friday from the website, or will we need to go into the store and preorder there? Will they need to inspect our phones to make sure they are eligible for turn-in and then just set the preordered phones as the existing lines?

Anyone with experience on a similar situation would be greatly appreciated!

Re: iPhone 11 preorder question

Hey there AndyT38! Great questions! Thanks for posting in our forums!

Early upgrades can only be performed at XFINITY Store locations. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Yes, the phones will be inspected for damage so that the remaining balance of what is owed is cleared for your upgrade.

The early upgrade program has a few restrictions like you cannot:

  • Have a pending Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) or a completed Return Terminal RMA.

  • have services suspended for non payment

  • Have an open insurance claim through the Xfinity Mobile Protection Plan or a pending trade-in offer with Assurant.

    Thanks for the reply, Ken!

So with these factors in mind, would we even be able to preorder? Or would we need to wait until our local store has stock of the model we want before we can start the ball rolling?

Good follow up. It is my understanding, for an early upgrade, the device would need to be in stock.

I asked customer service if pre-order was to receive the phones by the 20th or if we'd be given the option to pick up in store on the 20th. They told me that they have no information on the phones/availability dates/pricing or anything other than the fact that you can enter your e-mail on the main page to be notified for the pre-order. It seems like really poor customer service when the agents aren't given any information. If they won't know any of this until the pre-order goes live, it puts customers with questions at a disadvantage to getting the phone early. It also give people no time if for some reason they can't upgrade to do so through apple @ full price or what not.

I completely agree. It seems that they really fly by the seat of their pants.

seems like buying directly from Apple as an unlocked phone might be a better way to go with all these restrictions Xfinity puts on it. Then just drop your sim in it. Looks like they give 18 month financing so that is a small downside as xfinity offers 24 month.

Any other downsides to buying it unlocked from Apple?

Don't you have to pay the full $699 upfront if you want to go that route?

I'm trying to figure out how to stick with a payment plan, but I'm a bit confused.  For example, since my current service is ATT, should I buy the ATT version on the payment plan and then switch?  Can I do that with the 11?

Apparently the safest way to upgrade a phone for a line that is already on Xfinity Mobile is to purchase your new phone from Xfinity Mobile. Currently if you remove your SIM from your existing phone and insert it in another phone, wherever it came from, it is not guaranteed that all of the features will work. Apple and the major carriers such as Verizon have applications that give you the ability to move your SIM from one phone to another, Xfinity Mobile and other MVNOs don’t have these tools.

I've read that in these forums but have brought 2 iphones over with no issue to replace the LG X Charge.

Like my post says they offer 18 month financing.

I bought an iphone 8 thru Apple with their 24 month payment plan while using ATT and then switched to xfinity 2 months later. We had to get a cheap phone / sim from xfinity then just made sure it was unlocked from ATT and then put the xfinity sim in. Wife has used it for nearly 2 years with no complaints. not sure if she uses voicemail.
