Why is my DVR space not accurate? I have 5 2 hr movies yet it says 75% full????

Why does it show 75% full?   I only have 5 2 hr movies yet it show that.  And the % was showing 80% a couple of days ago but this is just dumb.   I will check back in a week or 2 for an answer as I did a search for dvr and almost every reply was a link or a repeat of the posting with no replies from months ago.

do you have set top boxes in your home? is one of the an xg1 DVR (with a clock) or an xg1v4 with white led in front center? any local broadcast channels are in mpeg2 which use approximately twice as much room as recording a cable channel like HBO.

So yes I have an  X1 TV Box & another basic box upstairs.   No one else watches tv but me.  I have ZERO local shows recorded.  I refreshed and the amount of storage used is still incorrect and has been for over week.  I have 10 hrs of shows yet at the end of the recorded - scheduled screen way way over on the right it say I have 135 hours recorded - WTH????

I never did find a single screen showing devices, but I can assure you I only used the main X1 DVR ever.  And I even deleted a couple of items in my playlist to see if it would change.  I don't know if you will be able to read my enclosed photo of the DVR screen but here it is.  Also is says : 146 programs and 82% full yet I have about 8 programs now all 2 hrs long.   I also pressed info during a dvr playback but never saw all devices, but again I only use this dvr.Comcast DVT small.jpg

@bfallona,

Based on the image that you posted, it looks like there is a lot more on your DVR than just 5 2 hour movies (How it Really Happened, Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted, CNN Special Report, etc.). There looks to be 146 total recordings on Bob DVR.

Just so you are aware, all television shows or movies that you set to record count toward your total percentage used. I would recommend that you review the list of recordings and eliminate the ones you can easily watch OnDemand to free up space.

OK done & thanks for the help.  I had mentioned I had 8 hrs currently on the dvr.  So, Comcast decided to show me how much I "might have" IF I recorded ALL of my scheduled programs? LOL.  Again not your fault, but I don't see any point to have it say I am at 80+ % with 142 programs when I don't.  & does the dvr "decide for me that it can't record anymore cause I might use the space in the next week or month.  Again - no need to reply just maybe forward it to it or dvr tech group.

are the movies recorded from a local broadcast channel in HD or cable channel (in HD)?

Hi,  I noticed in the picture of your dvr you have devices set to "bob's dvr" but you should change the "recordered on" to "all devices" so you can see everything recorded on your dvr.

You do this by going to "saved" and then "recordings". Once you get on that menu hit the down arrow which should be your first recording and hit the up arrow once.  This would leave you on the  "sort" option. Now hit the right arrow 2 times and it will be on the "recorded on" option. You hit ok on your remote to set this option which brings up a pull down menu and then use the up arrow until you see "all devices" and hit ok on your remote.

This will change devices on your dvr as the other person suggested so you can see everything that is recorded not just the recordings on "bob's dvr".

I hope my explaination is clear enough to understand and helps with your problem.
