X1 voice remote not always working on main box DVR. Replaced box and remote same issues. But what is also happening when you press the voice button and are waiting for it to respond it makes the 2 Xi boxes tile severely. When I replaced box today at the store they told me my issues are because it's the older X1 box. If the older models have an issue why wouldn't it be fixed or stop being issued The newer models have no audio outputs and they said I would need to buy a new stereo.
replace one of the xi boxes with an Xg2 box. when replaced, power restart the other xi set top box. fixed?

What is the xg2?
the xg2 is priced same as the xi but it has its own tuners and DOCSIS modem. this means the DVR you have will no longer need to use the DVR's tuners (givng you more tuners to record at the same time). the tiling issue on the non-DVRs will not happen with the XG2.

So it's the same price but it's a DVR also?
No.

I understand that and will get a tech out to check MER/BER, but what I don't understand is how pressing the voice remote microphone button is causing the tiling on the 2 Xi boxes.
my suggestion removes the need for the xi boxes using the DVR and while the DVR is having issues with the requested by remote operation. the Xi devices use the tuners and DOCSIS modem of the DVR. changing one of the xi boxes to same-priced XG2 companion set top box improves the service your companion set top boxes use and frees up the 2 tuners in your DVR. since no change in price seems easy fix and easily done.
