No 5.1 Surround Sound Available As of Yesterday on My X1 DVR BOX setting menu. Only Stereo.
After 5 years of no problem, I woke up to this yesterday.
Anyone else experiencing this problem?

Same here - old, green ring Pace X1 box. Swapped it out with other (newer) X1 units I have in the same house and they are outputting proper 5.1 audio without any other changes, so I suspect it's isolated to the DVR itself.
I fear that this might be the end of the road for the older boxes...

Same here. The only option for audio now is Stereo PCM. Auto Detect set the audio to Dolby Digital bitstream before no problem. As of yesterday Dolby is totally gone from the audio menu and all can get is stereo.

I’m cleaning up a few older recorded shows not transferred to the cloud & will be getting a new box by the end of next week.

I just noticed the same problem with my Pace XG1v1 DVR. The 5.1 audio was working fine for years, but now it is stereo only. No way to change it.
Did changing out the DVR box with Comcast solve the problem? Which one did you get?

I did swap boxes and now I have Dolby Digital 5.1 again. My old box was a first generation Pace XG1v1 box with the green power ring. I made an appointment at the Xfinity store down the street and they gave me a new Arris XG1v3 box. The model number is AX013ANM. Looks and functions just like the old box, but now the surround sound and apps like Peacock and HBOMax work!
