RNG200N USB port

This USB port seems to be inactive.  I was told by the Xfinity salesperson that I could use this port to power my Roku which I did with a previous model box.  Now when I try, the Roku says it is getting insufficient power.  I just read in a Techwalla article that thie port is indeed not active in order to prevent inappropriate updates or transfers.  What is Xfinity's official statement about this?  It's not a deal breaker on the box but I wonder if it's possible to activate this port.
