DVR saved movies gone.

Several DVR-d/saved movies have disappeared.  I'm never at more than 25% full as I'm strict about deleting things once I've watched them.  Seems odd that some programs/movies that were recorded earlier than those that disappeared still remain.   Is it a coincidence that the movies were recorded from TCM, which is no longer available without paying extra?  I would like to know if there's a way to get 4 movies back.
